We got a snow dump big time and it has demolished the new tarp over the chicken run ☹
I also couldn't get my car out of the carport to go to work, so I am stranded at home until they get around to clearing the road.
Oh wow!!! We didn't get anywhere near as much!
It sucks that your tarp got broken.

Wow, thats s lot of snow! Working af home is not bad with snow and Covid.

Do hope you can fix the tarp. I have only netting in top of the run. So far this works great with snow. But there is rarely more then 5 cm where I live. We’re expecting some tomorrow too. But I don’t expect much, max. 1 cm.

The extra light didn’t work out the way I expected. 1 chicken who layed got broody and stopped after breaking her broodiness. And the other chicken stopped too. Silly birds.

I have never used light but during the winter I always add some cayenne pepper to their feed. they always lay a few eggs even when it is cold.

The run is now a wet mess, and the snow is too deep for them. So they are only venturing out down the side of the yew hedge, that has held most of the snow off the ground as it is bending towards the run with the weight of the snow, and has formed a sort of tunnel. At least they can stretch their legs a bit there. Not happy campers though. i will be glad when it starts to melt.
