Has anyone had any success with ordering hatching eggs from out of the country?
Welcome to the peeps in Europe thread.

I haven’t ordered any eggs by mail. It seems the outcome is often disappointing. But often not a complete failure. I recommend to pick the eggs up from a breeder if possible. If you go back a couple of pages you wil find more info about buying fertilised eggs.

My plan is to buy a 6 or a max dozen bantam eggs this spring. Vorwerk and/or Dutch in a ‘koekoek’ colouring . Already contacted 2 breeders that live near to my place.

My problem is that, from what I can tell, there's no seller nor breeder for the breeds I'm looking that sells hatching eggs. The breeds I'm looking for are Buff Orpingtons, Transylvanian, and aseel. The only breed of these I'd like to hatch this year are the aseel, the others I don't mind waiting a little more honestly

Hi and welcome to this thread! I visited Greece with my parents when I was a child, we were staying in a rural house and there were indeed a lot of chickens all around, I loved it. I have great memories, I would love to visit the country again.
Now I live in the countryside near the city and curiously production breeds are becoming increasingly rare here, most of the people keep chickens as a hobby (so do I), so ornamental breeds go for the most. So much so that I'm searching for some ISA brown or similar red mixes and I couldn't find them so far. I never ordered eggs by mail, but I'm going to give it a try next time my ladies go broody, however it's not going to be from abroad... I'm going to try to order some within the country first!
At the moment I have Marans, Araucana, Olive eggers and I recently received four Australorp chicks that could actually be mixes, but let's see how they will grow! ;)

Ha! If you want some ISAs, come to Greece, you won't be disappointed! Here it's the exact opposite, 7 years ago I could find some variety around here, now, I'd struggle to find a leghorn! It's quite unfortunate really

I'm sure that other greek users will give you some good advice about where to find other breeds, I hope that they will show up soon!

I know most of the farms in Greece that sell rarer breeds, the problem is they only sell chicks, and those who do sell eggs, don't sell eggs from breeds I'm interested in. Anyways, enough with my problems!

Hello 👋 new member here... We're from Germany and have our chicken since October...we started with 4 bielefelders and two wyandottes .... They're finally all laying now 😃. We hope that one of them goes broody in spring so we can hatch some eggs... We don't have a rooster (yet) so we'll be buying some eggs to hatch...
However I just wanted to say hello to all the other chicken owners in Europe :frow
