Remember the story of my Bielefelder eggs? The head of the breeding club got them for me. He was so upset because that person kept the eggs in the coop overnight with freezing temperatures. He said, give it a try but probably nothing is going to hatch.
Well, 5 eggs showed signs of fertilization. 4 made it all the way to lockdown.
You guys are not going to believe it!! Out of the 4 eggs I got 3 hens and 1 rooster. What are the chances?

Well, they are growing. Already behaving like chickens instead of chicks at times. They have learned how to scratch, run, fly and some are already fighting. They eat like machines!!
I am surprised how quiet they are. I expected a very noisy bunch... but they seem to be happy.
They had their immunizations for marek yesterday... Saturday 30 of the 40 are moving close to Nürnberg to the other breeder. But no fear! As of Sunday there are 50 eggs in the incubator....ok a couple of Hail Mary's...don't expect anything to develop, but I'll give it a chance.
I have no clue about how to post videos here... might have to look into it.
The little fuzz balls are already getting their feathers!!

Enjoy, they grow fast! Mine are very chatty and so funny! I gave them bird sand in a large dish and they already knew exactly what to do with it, take a dust bath of course! Now they are a month old, I introduced them to a bowl of pure meat dog food. They proceeded to chase whoever had a bit of it in their beak around, and try to steal it, although there was still plenty in the bowl. Should have seen the acrobatics! :lau Better entertainment than any action movie...lol

I'm still trying to figure out what dish to give them for a sand bath. And I have to get some bird sand.
I can definitly tell that they are growing like crazy. I could watch them 24/7.... it so sooo much fun.
They do the stealing and chasing when I give the carrots. Not enough food... obviously I am starving them!
30 of them are moving into their new home tomorrow. The others stay for at least another week before they move into the coop. But definitly before the new hatch which is in about 2 weeks.

Ladies, I'm not sure what happened, but I lost all alerts for this thread! But now I'm caught up on my reading and checking out your pics! Such sweet things they are.
We were pummeled again last night with 70 km winds and luckily the coop remained upright, due to some repairs after the last storm. I can not remember Germany being hit with 3 straight storms as powerful as these last three have been. But this Saturday, I pick up some wooden beams that a neighbor is donating. I think some of these beams are at least 100 years old and they are all hand cut. Last weekend, he found a beam laying in a pile and on the side 1686 was etched in. How cool is that? He's thinking that someone in his family, took a barn down, stacked the wood where he found it and forgot to rebuild it. Nothing else new here, just wanted to say "Hi" and all.
