Peeps in Europe!

Hello again from Turkey. Think our ch8ckens are Lohmann whites. Anyone have those? They ate growing super fast! Huge combs, huge feet, super sweet temperament, one is crowing. About 7 weeks old.

They all look like cockerels. Around their eyes I can see some dye residue, were they purchased as dyed chicks? If so, most, if not all of those are male

Maybe it’s personal, and you don’t have to answer of course. But I wonder why you moved to Ukraine, a country under attack 🇺🇦?
No worries, I moved here to volunteer. I'm an English teacher, and I work with refugee kids who came from the frontline regions.

They were dyed, yes. At the time that was all that was available locally. I don't agree with dyed chicks, but they were purchased as companions to our single duck who lost her sibling. In Kastamonu, we only know of 1 seller with ducks/chicks. We could have waited, but the chance was high that this was his last batch this year.

So, what are you going to do with all those roosters?

This dude is not okay if he sold you pullets.

Maybe next time you could try elsewhere? Don’t you have a kind of online ‘marketplace’ or Craigs list in Turkey ?
Buying fertilised eggs and hatching gives approx 50% pullets . And a good seller is honest and tells you what you can expect.

I prefer buying eggs or hens from hobbyists I trust very much. To prevent buying (latent) sick chickens that could infect my flock.

Dyed chicks are sold mostly as "child pets", dyed to look more appealing to a child. Most of these sellers, if at all, are not chicken savvy, or have any interest in chickens whatsoever
