@BDutch just read about your lock down... I am so sorry to hear that!
The shows are over. I did ok. 2 points more and I would have been German Champion in Erfurt. One point to club champion and one point to State Champion. It was upsetting. Especially because I wasn't able to use my two really good roosters (one lost feathers the other damaged his comb). But I did make District Champion.
Now I might change breed as I feel like they are getting too big. And on a financial note, eat too much. I feel saddend... but I am sticking with Sulmtaler, just the bantam kind. I was able to buy some really nice bantams. I am planing on keeping one LF breeding group... we'll see what the future holds.
Just to give you an idea about the size. Those two have to be in a cage until next week due to space. Can't throw the roosters back together. I have to butcher some first as well as sell the one breeding group. Just a few more days... then they get to be outside again.
Beautiful! Congratulations, even though the results weren't as good as you hoped. I like the bantam male in the photo.

As expected. The bird flu comes back every autumn now.
There was no effective bird flu control at the Dutch-German border. In Kleef ,Germany they discovered an in infection too.

Sorry you didn’t get the best Champion prize. 🏆 But district champion is good too. Congrats with a prize that will make it easier to sell for a good price 💵 .

The bantam cockerel I had was very cute indeed. I bought bantam eggs in a village near Nijmegen, near the German border. I can give contact info in case you can’t buy them anywhere around where you live.

Congrats! In spite of the issues that arose, you still managed to get District Champion! Both birds in the photo look gorgeous. I hope that you find the bantams easier

Last week in Italy occurred the 29th Italian Poultry Championships. I was able to partecipate with my Brahmas and Japanese quails.
Unfortunately I had a rough breeding season with Brahmas, the only ones I was able to take were 4 females born this year and they didn't go very well. I took with me many (maybe even too many:oops:) quails, though.

I got pretty good results with them: an Egyptian male won as Best of Variety and a White one won as Best of Breed, then as Best among all galliformes (except chickens).

I also took there some new varieties of colour, such as Red range tuxedo, Red range white wing pied and Scarlet tuxedo.

I was also able to pass two more exams as a poultry judge: crested breeds and other fowl (turkey, guinea fowl, quails, geese and ducks). Last year I passed asian breeds and true bantams. I'm halfway to becoming a full judge:D
