Pekin Duck Club!

hey everyone,I've got a question for y'all. My boy Riley has started acting quite aggressive lately(meaning it started today) he's been attacking me, and my mother all day, but just last night he was acting the way he use to as a baby. yes he's normally aggressive in the morning( protecting his hen LD.) but he normally mellows out. today was too cold for then to go out so we kept in the dinning room for the day. what could have triggered this sudden change in personality?

My Felix has been way aggressive lately, but from what I can tell, he us hitting puberty. Coming into his "manhood"- he will literally come after me when I turn around if he feels frisky! He is also getting very protective of our hen Flossy. I had her first & she has always been my baby! Now I can't even pick her up without him getting mad at me! I was told if the aggression gets to bad...strattle the top on him & squat hold his Beck with one hand & hold him to the ground with the other hand. Show him you're the boss not him! However, I still haven't had the heart to do this! Lol. We're in the same teenage Drake boat eight now!

More than likely hormones how old are they?  Drakes usually begin to feel frisky around 4 months on and can get aggressive . It's time for tough love. When he starts attacking you or mom you need to real quick pin him to the ground your not hurting him but you want him on his belly with head facing away from you, keep one hand on his neck so he can't bite. I find straddling them works for me. I hold down till they stop fighting then I let them go if they come again aggressively they get pinned again. I also will keep them away by putting the broom between me and them. And I have even pushed my drake away from me. I am not being aggressive enough to hurt but just making a point that I am not going to be submissive and let him treat me like one of his girls. I have a great relationship with my drakes but I will not tolerate one being aggressive. You can also try picking him up making sure to keep him from biting and walk around with him for a while what your doing is being the dominant one not him. If we are consistent they will learn. So many give up on their drakes and either they end up dumped somewhere or get sold off. I am not saying you'd do this but it
happens alot.

I can speak from experience that this advise works. I had a few aggressive muscovy drakes that I was constantly pinning to the ground. No one else in my house did it and they all got bit. It took a while but they finally stopped biting me.

I would keep the dogs and drake separate unless your there to supervise and can stop the drake Dogs will only take so much I have learned. I learned from my geese and my dogs though my Drake thankfully has never been aggressive towards my dogs. Do the same thing don't let him go after the dogs.

@BBCHICKS123 Is his leg swollen red hot to touch? I have to rec a Vet. Poor thing is most likely in alot of pain. Any idea how it happened. Keep him in a small area when he is safe and isn't over doing. He needs to rest . If you can bring him inside you could put him in a warm tub of water and see how he moves the leg when he is floating.[don't leave him unattended though] and never put him back outside while wet if your having frigid temps.
