Pekin Duck Club!

Does this sound like it will be secure enough?

The whole perimeter and top of the run will be chain link fence. The bottom 3' will be skirted with 1/2" hardware cloth. The top three feet will be chicken wire. The bottom and top will be chicken wire. The whole run will be 8x6' and 6' tall.

The most likely predators are hawks stray cats/dogs, possibly raccoons and possums. We live in the suburbs so I'm not too concerned about coyotes/foxes, etc.

Yep he died late last night also his eyes i would try opening and when I did water and almost blood came out so i told my mom cause she's a nurse and I asked and she said it looks like an infection and I would be surprised if it lived and it died but I have another 20 eggs hatching soo ya im not so much upset but it breaks my heart when I couldn't do anything bout it

So sorry for your losses. I can't imagine the pain of seeing the aftermath.
Could it be an infection/abcess? How is the duckling doing other wise... eating? active? any limping? I would soak it's foot in warm epsom salt. I'm sure you will be hearing from others with way more experience than me. Good luck with the little one.
I agree warm epsom salt water then triple antibiotic or Neosporin nothing with pain killer in it. . and do not let the duckling drink the ES water it is also a laxative.

Anything to keep predators from digging under?

Is the young khaki a drake or duck? and yes he will bond to another female but it will take time they grieve and also go through shock, so alot of reassurance is what they need now along with a very secure pen and house. Good to hear they will be locked up at night now, sometimes it takes heart break to learn valuable lesson, Predators will try to find a weak spot and when they do they can kill unmercifully. very sorry for your losses.
We don't know about the khaki yet. We think she might be a female. She is in shock and walks with a limp. We have her back in a brooder coop to heal. The Pekin duck is a drake. He is a year old now. Thanks so much for the feed back.
