Pekin Duck Club!

I have a "problem" with my pekins.
The video is here:

The small pekin we now think is the female. However, that odd whistling "quack" does not match any pekin sound. It's very high-pitched and not like a quack. The other duck appears to have a drake curl. When we had four drakes, however, this was the duck we thought was female because the other ducks bit the back of it's neck, ripped out feathers and the duck would hid from the other four. We got rid of three males and thought we had a small male and a large female. Then the "female" started mounting the "male" and the drake curl appeared. Because the smaller one makes a noise that does not sound like a pekin, the sounds don't really help with sexing them. There is one male and one female, as one of them still makes that very loud "honk" in the mornings. Any ideas on which is which and why the one makes the odd whistle-type noise?

Hello all! So I think I have pekin ducklings and am joining the group. Here are my 2 I got on Thursday. They are 2 weeks old and seem really big to me. I'm starting on their duck house tomorrow morning when it is somewhat cool out. They are so stinking cute though.
You will be amazed at how fast ducks grow. And, don't take me wrong, I have 24 ducks and love them all, they are cute as youngsters and beautiful as adults. But, you need to get the duck house done pretty quick or cute will not be what is stinking. Ducks make my chickens and geese look clean in comparison. But, yours are really cute and they will grow to be a beautiful pair.

So true!! but I love and mine follow me everywhere. I have 9

I guess I will have to keep an eye on them to figure out what I have. They were the last hatch and hatchery special so who knows. I started on a temp run this afternoon and being 100* in TX sucks! I will finish that up tomorrow so they can get some time outside and in the little pool. Then onto the house and permanent run. Why does it have to be so hot out?!? I need to get some work done.

We were at the market auction today since 8 and we left at 7pm. You have the choice of proccessing your birds, or not, so I found two people who didnt care and I got to take them home when thry was done. They get all the birds from pool so they are both hens. Im glad I finally got a couple mates for my buddy.

So my female pekin duck has had this sneeze/cough for a couple of weeks. I don't think it's from her food or something got caught in her nose or if she is sick. It's like a little squeak/cough sometimes then sometimes it's like almost a grunt/bark sound. I just can't tell if she has a cold because our drake isn't coughing or sneezing. I just hope she doesn't have the flu. Anyone know if she's sick????? help please!

Any mold around? living in Fl.[I was born there] mold could be the culprit, bedding that gets wet , feed, your duck could just me more susceptiable. Try fresh bedding that isn't very dusty, I buy horse bedding that's large flake wood shavings, It's less dust and if it gets wet I take off the outer layer fluff and it dries out quick. How does her face look any swelling any discharge at all? does she have a way to dunk her head to keep everything clean and open? try putting some ACV in her drinking water it works to kill bacteria. 1-2 Tablespoons to 1 gal of water. If you try these things and none help then you my want to either take her to the vets or put her on a course of antibiotics but I do that as a last resort since antibiotics can have their own set of problems.
