Thanks! We have flag stone all around so I put it to good use. It's also under my rain barrel to level it out and as stepping stones. Whoever was here before really liked it. After having them out all day when I put them in the brooder it looked way too small. Tomorrow I'm working on their house and hopefully by next week they will have a permanent run in the works. It's so freakin hot that I can't work more than a few hours in the morning. Plus 2 kiddos makes for a challenging time. Using the saw requires my husband to be home to babysit. It will be worth it in the end though. Here they are before I brought them in
They grow so fast you can almost see it while looking at them, it's amazing. Okay so you a woman are building all of this, I sure look forward to seeing what all you get done. it's inspiring to the rest of us who are very challenged when it comes to power tools.

I absolutely LOVE working with power tools! And yes, I'm pretty handy with them too I might say. After all the duck houses (plural) and other things that I've built so far are holding up great!
Plus, since SO is usually not a plan-ahead kinda guy he forgets important things (i.e. Screws etc) while starting something and has to buy that first. By then he lost interest on it or gets side tracked with something else. So not much help there unless you ask him fifty times... In that time I did it myself, and with my planning and blueprint in head I go to work!

Hi y'all! I just noticed this post for the first time :) We have 10 Pekins, 6 have turned out to be boys & 4 are females (I was hoping it would've beenot 5 & 5, but nope, lol). I've only got names for 2 though, Flattop & Gulliver. Gulliver got her name when she was about 2 months old because she wound up traveling under our fenced wet weather pond onto the neighbors property (she was the only one who did this too). We had just gotten back from the ER & my husband went out to get the ducks to put them up for the night. He came back and told me that one of the ducks was missing. I couldn't take any more bad news, so I went out with him & we started calling for her. Next thing I know, I hear her quacking and see her on the other side of the fence. We finally got her back onto our side & I carried her back to the pen. She just cuddled up in my arms and laid her head on my chest. So from that day on she was known as Gulliver. Flattop got his name because he looks like he's got a flat top, lol.

I have 3 pekins that are 18wks my grandchildren named them "jo-jo", "weeble wobble", and Thomas. I sit in a chair in the backyard with them and eat watermelon or blueberries and they stay right at my feet and wait for me to share. Feeble wobble is greedy so he has learned to catch his treats in the air like a dog does because if it hits the ground one of the others might take it from him. He is so comical. Love them I just need to find them some gals.

lol, we named one of our polsih chickens flattop, the two production pullets we raised with him started plucking his head feathers and so, he lost them all accept the front and back, and so when his pin feathers came in, his head looked flat.

our pekin and the other ducks made it through the first night on the pond! They got breakfast and were probably scared half to death through last nights storm!

Lol, it's funny how we ended up with 10. My husband said he wanted some ducks and I said ok! So off to Tractor Supply we went. I went to go look at some stuff for our horses & next thing I know, the guy is packing up the rest of the ducks they had, which was all 10. My husband gave me a sheepish grin & I just laughed at him :)

Haha, thats funny. My pekin drake was originally from tsc.... sad story. Some grandma had the great idea of buying 6 ducks and 6 chickens for the grandkids. They put the ducks in the pond, them brought them and but them with the chicks on newspaper in their freezing cold garage. 5 ducks died and 5 chcikens died. So we had just bought a bundle of banties from tsc and she turned around and asked us if we wanted them... so thats what started our waterfowl love xD frosty in my best friend now.
