Pekin Duck Club!

Did you put oil or butter or salt in the scrambled eggs? They may have overeaten, or they may be having trouble digesting this - have they had any grit? I don't know that with eggs if it would be necessary, but the general idea is not to give them anything other than starter crumble until they have had a little grit every day for a few days.

@casportpony , is this something that will sort itself out? What kind of intervention might be needed?

@Sunshineluv95 , is there food in the brooder? Do you let them have food 24/7? What is their regular diet? Have they had any grit?

No I didn't add anything just normal. I give them chicken starter feed that is what the guy at the pet store recommended. I haven't given them any grit. They are still only a couple of weeks old they hatched on easter. I have them in a warm bath right now because I don't know what to do they did eat a lot. There only pooping little dots not like normal and they keep sneezing like they are congested now

I am just not sure what to do at this point I just know it isn't normal what they are doing.

Sounds like they are having trouble digesting the eggs - they will overeat.

"just normal" meaning eggs only?

--- I agree, they are in distress. What I don't know if is there is anything you can do without a vet's help, and often we don't have a vet really close by when we need one.

Do they have food with water 24/7?

I give them chicken starter feed I usually put a cup in their bowl in the morning and at night they probably eat about half and they also get salad during the time they are in the bath cleaning themselves or even minnows today they probably only got half of normal because we weren't at home so I gave them there cup they ate 2/3 of that and I scrambled an egg and gave them that instead of there lettuce which they ate all of. I gAve them water as well and refilled it twice when I than realized what was happening I don't keep food and water in there 24/7 so they don't overeat and to keep calm on the mess they make when it is in there. Have you guys ever heard of these symptoms before the only thing that has changed in their diet would be the egg first time I have ever given it to them.

I have seen this before and it is generally when they do not have food with water 24/7. When they are a couple of months old, starting to limit their access to food is okay, but at this age - they need it all the time or else they will gorge themselves.

And I think that's what we have here.

How are they breathing now?

yes just eggs nothing added just scrambled them and cooled them down so it wasn't too hot before giving it to them. I don't want them to get sick and not make it through the night it seems like there having trouble pooping because that doesn't look normal. I don't even know if there is a vet in the area that is open this late for ducks.

So when there babies it is better for them to have food and water all the time because they get a pretty good amount throughout the day I just don't want them to overeat and get that extra fat and be unhealthy so I try not to give them too much but like I said I'm still new and learning as I go. I try to make sure at least when they have food they have water so they don't choke

You may want to do a little research and find out about a vet. It is good to know.

@Amykins , have you come across guidelines for dealing with ducklings who have eaten too much?

I am looking for any references I can find.

Sunshineluv95, I am sure you are being as conscientious as you can be. There is a tremendous amount to learn with ducklings - mercy, the learning curve is steep.

At this point, letting them have water is probably okay, their little systems are overloaded. That's why I was wondering about a vet….

I am also wondering if a very very gentle tummy massage - in the direction the food should be moving - might help. Very gentle.

There breathing is still not back to normal I can still hear it when I could normally not one is I think who probably got the most of the egg is the one still having a hard time it looks like they are getting the most of there water down instead of it coming back up and what kind of vet would I be looking for? They keep sneezing kind of is what it sounds like
