My ducklings I notice have been panting, at first I though okay maybe theyre hot so I turned my ceiling fan on low to cool them off. But now theyre still doing it. Theres no heat on then currently, i was just wondering if maybe this is a common thing or if its something to worry about. Theyre three weeks old and im scared because I've read forums where this happens and the next day they find them dead [IMG] Hopefully its normal and theyre okay, im so attached to them I wouldnt know what to do if anything happens

Of that container they are in has no ventilation in the sides thats why they are getting too hot.
Can you get them moved into something much larger and open?
I brooded mine in the coop outside. And by this age they were already staying pretty far from the heat lamp. And on then outside edges it was in the 50s
They start growing in thick down feathers by 3 weeks old and stay pretty warm.
If they are panting still i would get them out and let them have some fresh air.
Those containers dont have good air flow.
Or give them a swim in the bath :)

Also do you have a different waterer than the one i see in the pic?
They really NEED a waterer that is deep enough to keep their nose clean and dunk their heads in to clean eyes as well.
Search duck waterers on this forum if you need some different ideas.
Some people use milk jugs and similar containers and cut a hole in the side about chest high on the ducks- so they can stick their heads in but cant fit their whole body in.
I just used bowls and had to clean and refil many times a day:)

I will befinitely be moving them into some place larger, as for the water container i'll try and make something. The only reason I have that is because I never frully transitioned it from when they were three days old. Thank you so much though this helped alot!
