Oh My God. I am so in love. How sweet. Duck in a bowl. Love it. How in the world does mom get under there?

@Lacrystol. Thank you. I am using 250mg niacin tablets. I crush 1/2 tablet to powder and add it to 1 gallon water. I do have to shake it up often. I'm only using pint jar waters, so I fill
them hourly.
And, yes I know every hatch can have problems but I had to help all 7 this time. Shrink wrapped. So something was off. I have my duck eggs and Ameraucana/EE eggs in bator now. Watching temp and humidity. I'd much rather mess up my eggs than those shipped. Shipped are stressed enough without me adding to it. Still too new at this to be comfortable.
Thanks for your help. Appreciate all advice

I get a lot of people claiming that have a shrink wrapped and wonder if they are really aware of the difference. Don't get me wrong I'm. It saying you don't have a shrink wrap problem. But usually when I get asked and see what they are seeing. Shrink wrap isn't the case. Can you tell me exactly what has been going on?

Ok. Let me see if I can discribe it to you. My ducklings were on day 29. 5 of 8 had external pips for 36 hours. I opened small holes around pips. Left them a couple hours. No change. I removed some of the shell at air cell. The outer membrane was a tan color. Very dry. I removed some so I could see the ducklings bill. The inner membrane did not have veins showing. Started removing inner membrane. It was very tight around duckling. Almost completely stuck to it. There was no way the ducklings could turn to zip. The very last ducklings story is on Peking Hatching Problem. Ended up with 7 ducklings, 5 had above problem then 1 upside down(Pekin hatch problem) and 1 dis before I could get it out. I'm new to incubating, only 4 hatches. Never had a problem until this. I said shrink wrap because that was like what I thought I read. Can you understand anything I said? Did it make since? That's for trying to help. Do not want to go thru that again

@CyndiD

Now I know I'm getting runners. Did not know they were that broody.

I read that runners are not normally broody, but half of mine are. I have 7 runner hens and 4 of them are broody.
this f/w runner (and the other one under there) built up all this straw up around the wood box. the straw is actually lower on the right side of the box, i assume that is how they get uner there, they have head room under there, they just pull the staw up in front, kind of like a curtain of straw. i made that 3 sided box just for the ducks in hopes that they would use it, and YA, they did. Tonight i put plywood up aroud the other 2 nest, so they would have more privacy and also, when their ducklings start hatching the ducklings will be protected from the other ducks. they are cute.

@miss lydia Hi, oh thanks. I was thinking that if they got cold mom would warm them up, but I will put a different waterer in there. I dont have a nipple style waterer. I have a chicken waterer, but at least they wont be able to get into the water... I will do that first thing in the am, or should i go do it tonight? thnak you for looking out for my little duckies... i appreciate you caring

@CyndiD

They are so far beyond cute. Nothing compares. I'm hoping they pass on their broodiness. Would love it. If you are still willing to send eggs- pm me with address. That way I will send you the $ and WHEN you find time you can send me some. . . Good luck with the silvers today.

Mama duck is busy cooking the rest of the eggs so it will be up to the ducklings to get under her, they don't always do what they should. I wish they were more like chicks and hen where mama calls them and they run under her.

How is everyone this morning any more hatching or hatched?

Hi Ladies... here is a pic i took today of ducklings.
Today Auntie/Mama duck was out from under the nesting box and laying on the straw and all 8 of the ducklings were laying besided her and 2 were sitting on top of her back.... it was so cute. By time I got my camera, they had moved.
but here is a few cutie pictures... enjoy

There are officially 8 ducklings, and maybe 1 or 2 more? I threw out a stinky one today and left her w/3 eggs. I had a difficult time hearing and seeing if the were moving, 1 for sure was moving.
Auntie/Mama duck layes just outside the nesting box how and hangs out w/and keeps the 8 ducklings warm and keeps them company. I put the heat lamp closer to them and they were laying under it today. It was cold today, probably about 45 degrees and windy, which makes it feel colder. I may give the ducklings a bowl of warm water tomorrow and see how they like it?? it should be cute to watch. I will take pics.
