Pekin hatching problem

@Sarkchick Your babies are looking so good. you mentioned above that you were going to hobble "the problem child"?? I thought it was the black and yellow runt that needed the hobbles???
P.S. I want to see your duck pic.. what duck thread are your pic on? or can I just see the pics on your profile page?
You did so good with your babies, your a GREAT MOM!! now get some rest and enjoy them.
My little three duckies I put in a kiddie pool in our livingroom where we spend most of our time, BUT everytime I get near them to change their water or add food to their bowl they run to the other side of the pool and try to jump out like I am this huge monster. I am only 5'2" tee hee, so I bend down and approach slowly; sometimes i crawl over.
I really want them to NOT be afraid of me, I know they are flight animals, but I really want to learn how to earn their trust. I know treats help (I haven't given them any treats yet) but I want them to trust me, not just at treat time.
I will keep trying. Blessings to you and your flock.

Thank you. I think the BYC group is awsome. No, the black/white has mild curved toes. It's the Pekin problem child that is splay legged at times. They are both smaller than the 4 white and 1 grey/white. But both are doing much better.
I saw your babies in the pool. Don't you just love them. So funny as ducklings but Oh So Messy. And yes all mine think I'm a monster also. Last year they grew out of it at about a month old. Then ( about 3 months) they were out side( much warmer) and I could not go out the door without them following.

The first picture is the parents of these. The blk/what is from one of the grey/white and a Pekin gander. A possums killed the other grey last fall.

Day 3 since freed from shell. Pretzel (problem child) looks like a normal duckling. Legs straightend out without hobbles ( tried to put on but he just flipped backwards so I chickened out and removed it). He is eating and drinking. Today is last day giving the poly. Will continue the niacin.

Can not tell you all how much I appreciate all the help. I was a nervous wreck and really could not think straight.

THANK YOU

That is wonderful news.. Congrats to you for all you have done to get Pretzel to where he/she is today... How about the other lil one?

And of course you know we are expecting lots of baby pics

@Miss Lydia. The black/white is doing great. I do not think toes have changed. It is so hard to tell with the color pattern. But they do not slow him down.

I will update pics later today. Thank you for all your help.

It is so hard to corral 7 ducklings. And to get a good picture. Every time I move- they try to climb the sheet. Or hide.

They look great and precious and adorable all rolled into 1. And look at Pretzel right in front hamming it up for the camera.
