Pekin hatching problem

Oh, I forgot about my email to patty, no she hasnt, as of this morning.
Yes, my offer does not have an experation date. I have soooo many. I have never shipped. I am getting SWH in 2 days, so I will examine how they are wrapped and do the same. Im sure it is bubble wrap (lots) and an egg carton bubble wrapped.. The breeded is charging me $12.00 for sipping and they are coming from NC, a little further than you and I. So, it may be less $$ for you & I.
Yes, ducklings and ducks are very messy, and a TON of work, and they are flight animals, but there is something about them that we just Love, huh? I think it is the cuteness, the challenge to gain their trust, their curiosity, their entertainment, their EVERYTHING, i guess.
I am going out to see if any more duckies have hatched... talk to you later.

I think Pretzel is standing a little taller and holding his head up higher. Doing great. It's going to be hard in a few months to find out "he" is a she. But, at least the name will be ok.


I also was gifted 4 geese. They will be going across the road to cousins place. He has a large tank. They do not like the ducks

Off to the Atwoods for more feed.

@Lacrystol. Thank you. I am using 250mg niacin tablets. I crush 1/2 tablet to powder and add it to 1 gallon water. I do have to shake it up often. I'm only using pint jar waters, so I fill
them hourly.
And, yes I know every hatch can have problems but I had to help all 7 this time. Shrink wrapped. So something was off. I have my duck eggs and Ameraucana/EE eggs in bator now. Watching temp and humidity. I'd much rather mess up my eggs than those shipped. Shipped are stressed enough without me adding to it. Still too new at this to be comfortable.

The ducklings look great. and you have geese one of my favorite birds besides ducks. I love my chickens too but there is just something special about geese. They are lovely.

Hello all... I put food and water out for the new little duckies out in my duck house. i put it next to the 2 runners. i was looking at the eggs and one is zipping, should hatch later today. then i saw a little eye watching me, there was another little yellow duckie that must of hatched last night...YA!!
@ sarkchick... your ducklings are growing so big and fast. they are so tiny and then they BOOM!! grow up, huh??
I didnt want to bother my brooding ladies too much, so i dont have any pics today... sorry... will update w/pic later.

your geese are beautiful. are they loud? what is their temperment like?
I get my Silver Welsh Harlequin in the mail tomorrow.... YA!!! say a prayer that they all hatch. I am all ready for them.

@CyndiD. It is so awsome you have new babies. So, was the yellow "eyes" a runner also? We are so blessed we live where we can have these. As for the geese, I've only had them about 2 weeks. And yes, the white Chinese is loud. When they were given to me. There was supposed to be the white male the shorter ( Pilgrim or Toulouse) female and the 2 mix females. But the 2 mix always fight. And only get 1 egg every other day. I'm thinking the mixes are male. They HATE my ducks. So I will move the geese across the road this spring. My cousin has a large stock tank.
You are really going to have your hands full. With new babies and getting the Silver Welsh Harlequin tomorrow. I'm sending you all the luck and prayers with your hatch.

To tell the truth, I think the f/w Runner ducks are sitting/hatching runner eggs.There could be some buff eggs in with them?? i dont know, buff and f/w eggs look the same. the blue and chocolate runner eggs are light and dark green.
My blue runner and the buff that are sharing a nest are sitting on runner and buff eggs.
And, my other 2 buff ducks that are sharing a nest are sitting on buff eggs (I think they are duds, however) they havent been bred because they have been sitting on their eggs and laying more without being bred.???
I have a chocolate runner sitting on her own eggs, but she hasnt been bred in awhile, so they may be duds also???
I have plenty of ducks and ducklings, i am not rushing out to let them breed, right now... the females and males are seperated.

What a precious pics they are adorable. Is it warm enough for them to be in their drinking water? at this age I think I'd use a chicken waterer so they don't get wet.
