Pekin with droopy eyelid. Is it a problem?

Wrap your duck in a towel so she won’t fight you or get someone to hold her then just put the ointment along the lower lid right along the eye so it gets inside the lid just don’t touch the eye. Do it at bed time so she doesn’t wash it out right away.

lol today when I was handing out snack I though my gander had cut his face of course to look I had to grab him around the neck and he wanted to bite me so bad. After I got hold of him it was a piece of old shavings. Boy was he mad at me!

Hi friends, sorry I didn't see there were more replies to my message for some reason. I decided to wait, I've been preoccupied with Penny, who just had her biopsy yesterday and is getting worse and worse. I was just out giving meds to her when I see that one of Tuppins eyes is way worse. I'm so upset and running to the store to get the meds right now. To make it worse I jammed a huge sliver all the way down under my fingernail as I was grabbing my duck to look more closely. arghhh!

Okay, I just put meds in my sweet Tuppins eye. She was good as gold and just stood there - she's my friendliest duck. So last week when I started this thread I went to the grange right away, but they talked me out of getting the meds because they said usually there's goopy yellow stuff coming out of the eye if you need to use antibiotics. Since Tuppins didn't have that, and she'd looked this way for a couple months, I decided to hold off. And I'm out in their pen 4-5 times a day, and haven't noticed any change in her until just this morning. One eye is clearly in trouble, but the other eye actually looks pretty normal. So hoping these meds do the trick because I've been to the vet way too many times already with Penny. I'm feeling duck discouragement right now. All three of the pekins I received from Metzer Hatchery have had medical issues. The first 4-5 months of owning them was so much fun, and ever since then its been medical issues every day. I think I'm doing everything as best as I can to give them a healthy environment and diet, and a happy life, so not sure what else can be done, but feeling like duck ownership is a bust at this point. With one bright note, and that is my welsh harlequins just started laying. Well at least I got 5 eggs 3 days in a row, and I only have the 3 pekins and 3 welsh. Now if I could just get off antibiotics so we can start eating them.

Is it the pekins you have trouble with? My Little Lou is also from Metzers...he’s my runt with many health issues... I do have one pekin with a droopy eye, and one that is blind is one eye. The one who is blind is the eye...I believe grew out it...if that evenmakes sense. His eye was black when we got a light blue on the one side of his head for weeks..and he couldn’t see when I would move fingers in toward him. But he compensated fine. Now the coloring is....almost normal? So I don’t know if he can see or not. The duck with the droop.......I haven’t put the teramyacin in it..I have it, but it doesn’t seem to be an infection...it seems, rather...to be...like...the skin is sagging.
