Pekins going bow legged

Thx. Unfortunately I have not been able to find brewers yeast anywhere. I'm surprised because I feel like I used to see it everywhere. I've stopped into probably 7 stores at this point and no one has any. I've been feeding the good food and have been adding sav a chick electrolyte and probiotics in the morning, and niacin supplement in the evening. I think the one is still just growing so fast his/her legs aren't keeping up. If spooked it can still get away from me (which happens a lot thx to the less than friendly khaki campbells :p) but it definitely stumbles some along the way. The other one is still not standing up as straight, but seems to be a good bit more mobile.
I'm not trying to sound weird, but I will send you brewers yeast. I truly believe it cured my duck's seizures, I believe it will work for you too!

Unfortunately no Walgreens or vitamin shops near me. Tried walmart, meijer, CVS, and a couple smaller pharmacies. We are potentially making a trip into town today where there are many more stores so hopefully I can find some today.

Having a super rainy day today which is a bummer. I'm going to pull the chicken tractor frame I build the other day apart and bring it in on our porch. That way it'll dry out some so I can get some paint on it and finish it up. I want to have it setup for the duckies to be able to roam around the grass and do duck things.

I"ll try and get some pictures of the two duckies this weekend to show you how things have progressed at this point. They have continued to grow like crazy, are starting to lose the yellow fluff and turn white. One of them also has started to have a more distinct quack mixed in with peeping.

Things aren't looking so good for the bigger of the 2 pekin. I noticed tonight that one of its legs seems to be even more turned inward. I premixed about 10 cups of food with brewers yeast so it's set and ready to go. The other seems to be at least a little better.

I guess all I can do is continue to treat and hope for the best. If by about 8 weeks no improvement is being shown, I may have to go a different direction :-/

Homestead, the problem is that at this point their bones are solidifying and without veterinary intervention their legs are never going to improve. A lame duck is a very unhappy duck, and worst-case may even have to be euthanized. Niacin is a preventative measure, it is NOT a cure.

That is certainly my concern. I'm not sure if the food was not good enough from the beginning or what exactly happened with them. I'm going to do the best I can to help them recover and improve, but I'm getting the feeling that by 4 weeks, the outcome may not be great.

All I can do is help them out as best I can and hope for the best.

Did you ever find an avian vet in your area? I think that should be your primary focus at this point. They need leg splints. The harness idea was a very good one, and awfully cute to boot, but because these are stubborn jumbo pekes it ultimately didn't work and if it's not already too late, I think the splints are the only thing that could help them.

This is one of many reasons I feel for jumbos, same with heavy-bodied meat chickens, leg issues are common and the poor birds suffer for it all 'cuz people didn't care about their well-being, only about how fat we could make 'em for market. :/

I hope you're able to find a vet, I really do. My heart goes out to you and your babies.
