Nature's Hatchery and My Pet Chicken have them now.. Sorry if someone already posted those, but I'm in a hurry so I couldn't read the posts...

I have a Patridge Rooster, Raised from an egg and he is just the most lovely little thing! extremly affectionate and very social, gets alone with every other breed he's met and chats with budgies as well! He's not at all aggressive and only crows when he's left alone. Loves nothing more than just human company and hugs. I actualy bought him under the impression he was a hen... took about 3 to 6 months of denial to accept he was deffinetly a Rooster, but I wouldn't trade him for the world...even though I live in suburbia.

But he's just wonderful and brings a smile to everyone when we go for walks down the street and people pat him and tell him how beautifull he is.
But I do think it's a case of nature vs nurture. But eitherway they are beautiful just to have, people often mistake him as a statue untill he moves!

When I get some more things taken care of around here, I have to start posting pics.

I'm having a good time just watching my little roo's comb develop. I love these combs.

As much as I hold the, they are still really flighty.

I would love to have some Penedesenca hens for their dark eggs as I am an egg decorator! I'm in Nova Scotia, Canada, anyone know where I could maybe find some?

Thanks
So Jeo

We are in NW Arkansas and raise Wheaten Penedesencas. I sell eggs and ship chicks year round, according to weather conditions. I have some hatching today as a matter of fact

I have had great success in shipping both chicks, eggs and started birds.

Yes, they are flighty. However, I don't have a problem with mine at all. They know I'm going to come in their smallish coop to feed, water and collect eggs. I have NO problems whatsoever, unless they feel cornered, then look out for panicked birdies. I have raised MANY cockerels to breeding age in the last years and have not had ONE agressive roo.

Here are some of our Pene kids. I was about 6 feet from them taking pictures, no problems.

I think the personalities of my black Penedesencas are typical of the breed. They are very alert, not what I would call "flighty," and they prefer to avoid contact with people. It's possible that the influence of their two bantam foster mothers is at play here, as one of those is hyper-vigilant about predators, even at night. Also, I did not handle them much at all as chicks. Wondering whether anyone has gotten calmer birds by more handling as chicks... ?

with this breed the flighty part is one of there greatest attributes . This breed is alert
this is what you want in a area with predators .
they are also very heat hardy.
Partridge average he darkest eggs. like Marans though or any other dark layer many eggs are not like what you see on line
