Yes ... I'm still insisting that I get a copy of the ordinance still.
The fact that his tune changed today makes me suspicions that the zoning officer was correct and their is no ordinance about this at present.
Due to the fact he told my Husband 3 or 4 chickens. (I found out later today about this)

I also asked him to put in writing what he told us. To have a record of proof.

I want to cover all my bases.

I found out today as well it was not the neighbor I thought that complained ... it's the one on the other side. To my sorrow I'm deeply hurt by her. She has complained about everything I have done to my face. and I'm about through with dealing with her. She has basically told me I should move back to Canada, She yelled at a friend of mine for parking in front of her house while we where unloading the van. and a few other incidences.
I live in my Husbands childhood home, now that his parents passed away, we have been here for almost 2 years.

just to mention, as for the right to farm act this is how it applies

1) not less than ten contiguous acres in area; or
(2) less than ten contiguous acres in area but has an anticipated yearly gross income of at least $10,000.

You hadnt mentioned how many acres you have. Let us know when you get those zoning laws.

Unless she owns the street, or parking on the street is restricted in some manner, you or anyone can park there any time you so choose.

You might try to figure out why this neighbor is so antagonistic--is it just to you/your family? or is it towards everyone? The more information you have the better you can decide on how to deal with it--which includes choosing to ignore her/not deal with her issues.

If you know that you are within your rights, you can memorize and use a few standard phrases:

"I'm sorry you feel that way,"

"I understand what you are saying, but I disagree; I like your new flowers--they are so pretty [or some other complete change of subject],"

"this is what works for us,"

"yes, I'm from Canada, and my husband grew up here--in fact, our home has been his family home since [he was born, a young child, for more than 40 years, ...whatever fits],"

etc.

Thank you "Sonoran Silkies"
Your correct in what you have been saying.

I am giving the township supervisor until Tuesday to have the ordinance papers, and the terms he told us over the phone, in writing, to us. As it's the long weekend.

The ... old biddy ...next door ... well she lived there as long if not longer than my husband has been here. Apparently her Father in law built the house. So I think she feels she should have total say in what goes on here. (NOT) ..lol

I'm a city girl that was raised in a Country City.
if that makes sense ,,,lol

No one owns the street:p

Well your a dear to be so helpful, I thank you!

I now know the right to farm act doesn't apply for me ... darn

I learned a long time ago that what an official tells me the law is and what the law or statute actually states is often very very different.

Wondering if you got your paperwork about the ordinance? How are you and the neighbors getting along? I'm guessing you don't have the 10 ac of property (you seemed bummed on the RTF info).

If you tell the zoning people you're trying to save money, make sure you can prove it (free range farming if possible). Did they make you get a permit to build the coop? I know some places make you have an architect draw up plans.

Keep us updated on what's happening!!

Im wondering what you found out about the ordinances in writing too. Familiar with small town politics and all

Well I have heard Nothing!
Or have I received Anything!

I think I'll just let things rest, for now...
I suspect still that their is nothing (no Ordinance).

Until proven otherwise, I'll let it go.
But!!! If their is some cockamamie Ordinance.
I will then Pull out my guns and start shooting! (metaphor)
