Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Welcome, and we all love to see pics. You might have EE, but that's okay. You will have a nice colored egg basket! I think you are already a professional with the chicken math

I guess I'll add myself to this PA list. Oddly, also a Ray in PA. Lancaster county, nw corner. New to chicken ownership, Ive got 14 SLW AT 8 weeks, bit don't plan to keep them all, as well as 6 Americaunas, at least that's what I was told they were. They came from a hatchery in Ohio, so I don't know if they are true. I guess o need to study up on the breed, they were kind of an impulse buy!
Final coop is almost finished, currently in small coop and brooder.
Not really sure where this hobby is going to go, for now part of a long range sort of homesteading plan.
If I figure out how, I'll post some pics, buy we all know what a chicken looks like.

Welcome from one county down, Chester County! Enjoy your new chickens!

Play opera music, and cover them with a thin cloth. My chickens love the opera music, I get it from Pandora on my phone. Then I cover them in a thin muslin cloth, white so they can see, but not the car movements. Take breaks for watering, don't let it in there, makes messes mixed with the poo. That's what I do...............
Hey guys, any suggestions for reducing stress while transporting chickens? My gals have a 6 hr drive ahead of them from Virginia to Pa!

Welcome Ray from Lancaster...... from Ray from Berks.....I'm new to this too,,, can't believe how many we've accumulated already, guess we have similiar thoughts about overbuying and figuring some will have to go,,, mostly the extra roosters,,, I picked up some and then found others that I liked even more,,, thinking it could be interesting have a good assortment around, I seem to like something about a wide range of the different breeds,,, must say the Cochins I picked up are really cool birds, very easy going and quite pleasing to look at. Also picked up some siver laced wyandottes, because I find the patter so appealing, was hoping for that color in the cochins, but not that easily found, although now that I got the wyandottes, I'm sure I'll run across the chochins I hoped for......LOL

Good luck with your guys and gals,,, hope you like the site

Welcome to the Rays!

I would love a laced bird, we have none. My son is especially partial to them.... maybe someday. And Welsummers... I would just love a terracotta egg!

Couldn't get to the Green Dragon last night, too much to do around here, with pigs to chase and what not. Our Honey Bees are doing well, but I think we may add some feed so that they can build comb faster ~and by 'we' I mean the boys. Donning that bee suit is the one thing that I do NOT do around here.

Chester County 4H Poultry Club today, Woo Hoo! and our Easter Chicks move to their new coop. Big Day here! Enjoy the weather everyone, I think it's going to be hot.
