if someone would of told me years ago that this is how I would of spent my weekends i would have laughed.....but really I would not want it any other way...
We're on lunch break now from building the new grow-out pen which will later become the layer coop. Dblea was just here & picked up her chicks for her cousin & a bunch of Rose of Sharon bushes & seeds for her mom. She brought me 2 BLRW roos & a bunch of strawberry plants. She's such a sweet girl. They tried to use GPS to find my place & it brought them down the paved tractor path. NEVER trust GPS!

Would anyone be interested in mixed eggs? I have 5 duck eggs I am assuming they are from my Blue runners and 2 pheasant eggs. All fertile. But the duck eggs may/ may not be mixed. All my ducks are housed together. I will probably receive a few more eggs by Monday. I am asking 5 bucks plus shipping or 5 bucks if you can come pick them up :) Thanks!

I've hatched eggs from someone who was supposed to be NPIP & every one of them was sick. I had to cull every bird they came in contact with (an entire brooder full of chicks that were fine for 3 weeks before these hatched) plus the 3 roos I got from the same breeder. I had them in quarantine still when they got sick, so didn't lose any hens at least. I burned the brooder. Wasn't going to take any chances.
Thats horrible! Had to be a sad day :/

Lol NVM they are sold.

If I didn't already have a stomach bug, I would be sick to my stomach this morning.  Went out to let the chickens out and found My favorite pekin duck, 2 young turkeys and one RIR (who stays outside with the ducks and turkeys) killed. The turkeys didn't have much damage, the RIR had his neck chew out, and most of the ducks neck and chest were gone.  Could not find any signs that anything broke into my run. Don't know what to do. I guess I am going to have to force the rest of the ducks and turkeys to sleep inside. I am down to 1 pekin, 2 mallards, and 2 turkeys.

Oh NOOOO!! I am so sorry.

The pond tonight. Most of my crew :) My crew deciding its time to go home. They run in a line.. Follow the leader! The mallards... the male I raised. He is a TSC baby! But he went wild and found a girley. :) He watches over her so well:) She blends in so well!! 1 of their pair's of geese :) The mallards.. got a quick pic of them in flight! The male is on the left female is in the bottom right (look very close!). The female. Sunset at the pond :) Just wanted to share some pics!!
Stunning! Now, stop making me wish I had geese!!

I have 30 pekin eggs sitting here if you would like some to hatch to replace some of your flock. You pay shipping, I'll donate the eggs. Just let me know how many you would like. They are hatching really well. I have a bunch in the bator & every one is developing.

I try to fence my runs top & bottom for exactly this reason. There are still animals small enough to slip through some wire though. A weasel or mink will do exactly what you described.
Thank you for the offer, but I think I have to pass. I have Wings eggs in the bator now and wasn't planning on incubating any more for a while.
