Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

hey folks:

I have an ample supply of acorns....I was thinking of smashing them with a hammer(not me, but the local kids in the neighborhood)....and giving them as treats for the chooks...is this a game plan or folly???

How often do you have spells? I'm anxious now about driving again and going out alone. I know it only happened once while I was out but it scared the crap out of me! The antivert doesn't help at all so I stopped taking it. Still taking the antibiotic and praying this clears up soon and the med express doctor was right and its only an ear infection. I have epilepsy so I never know if something is a reaction to my medication, a new seizure symptom or something totally unrelated.

inner ear infections can take weeks to subside...had a GF that had one,,,,took six weeks to get rid of it....she was pretty much housebound....my only experience, just one experience....hope this helps....

PS: she got well, dumped me and married somebody else....think I was the lucky one...lol

Has anyone ever allowed a duck to hatch chicken eggs? Since we're going to allow the duck to hatch her clutch I was thinking of sticking a few chicken eggs in around day 6 or so of her sitting.

I usually have 2 spells a week, and they seem to be connected to the timing of my most severe migraines. Usually happening within 24 hrs of each other, but not always in same order. My future mother in law just got over an inner ear infection, it took her over a month. She took the antibiotic and something for the dizziness. She saw an ENT doctor and he said sometimes the meds don't work and it needs to be drained. I'd try to get in to see an ENT doctor as soon as you can, especially with your pre-existing condition.

Soooo, this is what I did today:

Curtains for the nest boxes! Right now they keep the chicks out so they don't get the habit of sleeping/ pooping in them later, and later I will cut slits in them to provide access to the birds.

And matching curtains for the window!!

All in all took me about four hours to do- 3 to figure out where the sewing machine was/ how to use it (first time), 30 minutes to make it, another 30 to crawl into the coop and put it up (we don't have a human door lol).

Ugh, so i knew i had a hen that was always getting out of the run, figured she had a nest somewhere with the way she was acting.... Well tonight i found her and her two, yes two eggs. Candled them right away to find that one was no good and the other was developing, look to be close to week two. Gathered her up and tried to put her and the egg in a nest, she just started breaking out. So i ended up getting one of my cat carriers out, put some straw in it, then put her and the egg in. After a minute or two of fussing she found her egg and settled down. Thought i was going to have to put her back under the shed where we found her. So hopefully in a week or so i will have another chick.. Loli

This came up about a year ago. It was not recommended because the chicks will drown. A duck has too much humidity.

Quote: I have a few lf EE eggs available & 1 or 2 showgirl eggs. I just set everything I had like 2 days ago. I do have a few showgirl, bantam EE & lf EE chicks in various ages running around my brooders though. If it rains here tomorrow I will be heading over tomorrow instead of Thursday. PM me your number just in case if you are interested in any of the eggs or chicks.

Ducks can hatch chicks, but not wise to let her brood them. She will try to take them swimming. Steal them as soon as they hatch & brood them yourself.
