Quote: That's the only reason my 2 spare runner drakes haven't gone to freezer camp yet. The 2 pekins were headed there this week, but someone claimed them & they are being traded for geese this week. The rouen is just too pretty to eat, so I'm looking for some more girls so the 2 boys can share. Right now it's 2 drakes & 3 ducks in the rouen pen, poor girls!

Is either of the ducks a drake. I am more interested in the crested cross as i already have a hen......?

Yes, both of the drop-off are drakes. The crested guy isn't very crested, though. He only has a few fluff feathers. I want to check them over before I do anything with them. They are not allowed in with my ducks because they don't look that great.

Thanks for the advice everyone. IF I were to put any in I'd be placing any chicks in the brooder ASAP, but more likely than not I won't be putting them in. She nearly has a full clutch (from what I've read a second mallard clutch, in the same year, is always smaller) and now that she's close I don't want to take an egg out to check for the fertile spot.

Gavin was so excited today (ok technically yesterday), he collects the eggs and came running in holding a brown one, then about 1/2 and hour later he comes running into the house again with a pinkish/cream colored egg. He's been asking every day when the reds and tetras would lay, so you can imagine how excited and happy he was when he found them.

Got a picture of our newest duck additions:
Elvis (furthest from me) and Priscilla

They are settling in wonderfully. Although they have no contact with the other ducks (or the chickens) they can see everyone and are constantly trying to get out of the quarantine run. I have a bad feeling this is going to be a losing battle, for me. It was with the mallards and unknown cross we picked up about a month ago, stinkers were only in the quarantine run for a week before they managed to escape.
Thanks Beaglady for such lovely birds, and it was great meeting you! We barely got over the mountain before Gavin asked when we could come down again lol.
And thanks for your lovely additions Motorcyclechick and it was nice meeting you and your hubby. They're settling in the brooding room right now, since we only have one quarantine pen right now. And the pickles tasted great!

The prints are still there but my guineas have stepped in them. I don't know how to make a plaster cast

would have tried to make one. It's not a raccoon track. Not a hand print. We have a few raccoons and seen their prints. It's scary because it is less than a foot away from my silkie run. Don't think I'm mountain lion proof. Sally I see the face too, ow that you said something

I gotta get the trail cam down there and see what's going on. I really don't want s\to see a lion that close to my chickies

If we get video of it I will see if I can post it.
I will Agree with Stake BG. It looks like a bobcat. Mount Lions are few and far between in PA. More likely a bobcat that size track probably a male. Get a trail cam out there would be neat to see whats up and if you have dogs or anything else need to know how to protect them too at night...

Getting everything ready for the wedding. Moving step-daughter and grandkids back in (hopefully for the last time). Being diagnosed with diabetes. Going quietly insane. Yeah. I promise to be back and posting after all this chaos.
