    I dont know what they are called but I keep my mallards in with my main hens and they do fine and alert me when there is something amiss

    Yeah they are a little slower on growth but ya get a bigger bird eventually and they are supposed to be good for meat and eggs ....

    I dont have my run covered as I wanted a large one for them, will scovys fly out? I dont want my dogs to eat them either, and I would need to lock them in at night because of in the mnts and critters gettin them. thanks

    scoveys are arborreal (like trees) so yes, they'll fly out. Nothing funnier than Duck flying down off the peak of the roof.

    We saw some really nice ones at the swap in Maryland the other weekend and my mom wishes she would've gotten some just the lady only had one hen and the rest were roos so that y she didn't get any. If you were closer im sure i could talk her into some [​IMG]
