Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Glad to hear everyone is better! Why do you say you like turkey's better? Just curious...

I think they have more personality. They are curious, pretty and much better eating than a chicken. I love the sound of a tom gobbling and I love the noise the hens make. I could sit in their pen and listen and watch them all day.

You related to any of the Little clan?

No, my father's family is from the Bloomsburg/Danville area (Girton). My mom's family is from Unityville/Benton area (Litwhiler)

I may have missed this, but @stake how did your hatch go?

Happy anniversary fisher!!!

Chippy:

I'm a bust so far....10 eggs are on day 22 and 4 are on day 21....not a pip or peep....I'll keep things running for a couple of days then try to figure what I am doing wrong....c'est la vie....

I accidentally left the run door open. Most went back in as soon as I grabbed the corn can. Moron (is a moron) kept his girl under the Lilac bush. They had no interest in the corn I was tossing near them. All but Moron and a BCM hen finally went in. Now the pair is somewhere in the woods.
I was on the phone with DH telling him about it, and went into the coop. I told him that another hen was broody. I said I was going to let her brood. It was not like the chicks counted! Then I said, "Besides, I just lost two chickens!" His response was, " I know. I understand. You have explained chicken math to me enough times."

Do you think Moron and his hen will come back? Or are they goners?

Awe. Did you candle? I'd quickly take one out and candle if I were you.

Check Craigslist when you are ready. They are always parrots in need of rehoming. We got this little girl (?) for free from someone who found her outside after her owners "decided" they didn't want her and "released" her into the wild -in October, in Pennsylvania, no less. People are so stupid and cruel sometimes.
amen, wouldn't you just love to snatch them baldheaded

On that note, when can my chickies go outside and stay outside all day and night? They still seem fairly small and fragile. Although now my biggest weighs more than my parrot. Pardon the mess in the picture:

I was under the impression that they are okay to go outside when
---it does not go below 40 degrees in day or night
---not before 6 weeks of age
--when you have a good set up for them to be safely out side

I tried to candle a couple of times....my only white egg looked good to me....for the brown eggs, I thought I saw some shadows in the middle of some of the eggs...(thought that was good too)....and who knows about the marans eggs....as I have really good flashlights, its not a matter of enough light...its knowing good from bad....and I really don't know if the eggs were really good at all...so...I'll just wait a bit....

and, I just herd some chirps from the bater but no pips yet.....how long from chirp to pip?
