Does anyone on here do any hide tanning.
With having these rabbits, I would like to give it a try.
I remember watching my grandfather years ago, by he sold them and I only want them for my own use.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated, for this looks like hard work.

I've been researching.....

Looks like battery acid is a key ingredient.

Young pelts aren't the best quality, however.

U funny. I'll be there Monday night, and again for the goat show, (spectator only) I'm not sure if that is Tuesday or Wednesday. Here ya go!

I got the chickens bathed and am not going to bathe the turkeys... I like this show because it is very small and only one day. Drop the chooks at 4 and we're done by 10. My grandsons are showing these guys, I sure hope they get a ribbon. The big kids have lots of ribbons in their rooms, it would be nice for the little guys to get some.

ah ha...the other goshen....nope, not going to CT....what chooks are you showing???

No pointers...I looked into this when I got my first deer.....all I can remember is using urine and using animal brains...something to the effect of soak it in a bucket for weeks and everything unwanted melts away and supple hide remains...(wash thoroughly!!!)

Why wash thoroughly? Wouldn't you want that lovely aroma to linger?

Where is the least expensive place to buy canning jars. Not going to try auctions or yard sales around here, I know better. Tsc seems to be the best price I've found, any other ideas?
(certain things need to be canned, not frozen, like cantaloupe and watermelon rind)

seriously keep an eye out on places like pennswoods.net. we had an amazing score last week. 167 jars- $20. Unbelievable! Besides that, it seems like everywhere is aground the same price. The dollar store was a bit cheaper but we had problems with the lids from there not sealing right.

my husband wants to learn this too but he doesn't want to use any crazy chemicals. He wants to do it like they used to way in the past.
