i used to go every exotic sale but for the last few years haven't unless i need to take some english or big birds and now all i have left are a few english, won't be going except for this fall, i need to sell my english, not buy something else to feed lol

I never do the Exotics Sale, but I always do the swap meets. I go to the Wed auction several times per year too. Also went to Roger's Auction on Fri night a couple weeks ago. Stuff sells pretty cheap there...so buy, don't sell...lol

We need to meet up somewhere. Have a BYC picnic or something.

I would totally come to a BYC picnic if it were half hour or so from me. It'd be nice to be able to talk "chicken" with no reservations.

I live between Seneca Lake & Salt Fork Lake...either would be great for a picnic. If there's somewhere closer to Wheeling or the PA border that would work someone chime in with ideas!

my new babies from Saturday :) They've basically just jumped right in to the brooder and blended right in with the others. They're only a week older but still.

This is 4 week old Mocha with the babies. She was the only one to hatch from some shipped eggs and so has been in the brooder with all these young ones. She's been playing mom. She taught everyone in the brooder to eat, drink, and scratch. She even calls them over to treats and things. In these pictures, she flew out of the brooder to come over and be with the babies since I took them out for some pictures. She did not like that and needed to be with them lol

I think this totally counts! I've driven into Ohio for chicken business far more than I've stayed in PA. I don't have any local chicken friends!
I'm 40 minutes from the border, but my cross point is above you - the Pymatuning Causeway into Andover. I'm about 2 hours north of Pittsburgh. Welcome!

SO SO happy that the weather has finally turned! I was FINALLY able to get the Seramas out into the yard for the first time. They had a blast, and so did my other little ones. I'm finally loving Spring. There's plenty of yard work to be done!

..so awesome..this weather really is a mood lifter!!
FINALLY...
Got a call for an interview, I have not been working since the second week of Jan, seems most companies want their workers young.. I gave up on TSC I was updating that one every two weeks and nothing, by every time I went in there I seen a new young blonde girl working. I even set my stuff on the counterss and walked out with one of them, she was more interested in her friends at the door...
Never thought it would be so hard to find a minimum wage part time job....
I can not make a yearly job out of the farm, just can not do much with snow on the ground.

..good luck Wing..i truly hope you get a decent job, working with good people...and I totally hear you on the "young & restless" ...it is almost impossible to understand the reasoning of some institutions hiring practices...

There is a huge brush fire going on around here. There is a lake/pond that the helicopter keeps getting water from. They have been fighting it all day since noonish. My girls aren't liking the helicopter noise. My son is home sick and we drove by where the helicopter was getting water, (right behind my house) which was cool to see. It looks like the helicopter is landing in my backyard. I hope they are able to get the fire out soon, so far 10 acres have burnt down. It was started from someone burning leaves.

..good grief...it has been so windy here...and people still burn...just carelessness..people need to be held accountable for their bold ignorance..or their indifference for potential danger for that matter..
I hope they were able to get things under control, having all that activity so close to me would make me a bit edgy too, can't blame the chickens for not appreciating it either..
