OMG My coop is a pain in the a@# with these LF!! uggggg sorry about your broody and the chick : (
I am jealous, everyone keeps posting pics of spotless coops and grass with no poop, how do you do it, or maybe you only snap pics right after a good cleaning, cause I know it only takes 5 minutes after cleaning mine and I got more poop.

on another note, hatched out 4 chicks yesterday to give to the nonstop silkie broodies, gave them both 2...one acceptted them right away the other was not so good about it, ended up culling 1 chick from the fiasco and giving the remaining chick to the good broody, so now I have 1 silkie with 3 chicks and 1 still broody.
Mama ahhhhahhhhh!
Quote: When I went down to the coop this after, I noticed a few have bigger wattles and redder!! ANYDAY... ohhh and last night a few of the girls were baaaakkk baaaakkkin to each other... so not normal.... praying!!

I also could hardly see in the eggs I got from chad... lol guess those contained these little black chicks!!

Those are called "horns" and silkies should not have them. I don't believe they are a DQ, but they are not desirable.

thank for the reply i also heard that it is impossible to breed out of silkies and u will always get some with the horns, though they arnt desireable they sure do complement those cute little fluffy faces

I am not sure about that, and I don't want to give you wrong information. And if you aren't showing or breeding for show stock, don't let it worry you at all.

Just a suggestion,,, if the other won't accept a chick and you still have eggs hatching in the incubator,,, why not try putting an egg that's close to hatch under her,, she should get used to hearing it's peeping before it hatches and will probably accept it more readily..........just a thought...... I have heard of people letting broodies hatch for them the last 3 days,,, the sucess rate can be higher
