Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

We put a temporary coop and run up over the weekend. We transformed the one end of the old barn into a coop. We cut down saplings for roosting bars and hung their water and feed. We went ahead and made nesting boxes even though they won't need them for a bit yet. One thing with the boxes though is the straw is everywhere now. We used sand as litter. The run is only a 5 ft high fence. We plan on keeping them in the coop for a week before letting them out. I'd post pictures, but it won't let me :(

After lurking about for a few years, we finally have our own flock. I'm excited to get to know some of my fellow PA'ers.

Sounds like you got a lot done! I would suggest covering or blocking off the nest boxes for now....they will just mess them up and you may end up with a couple who try roosting in them overnight. Keeping them blocked till they are 16-18 weeks will get them into the habit of roosting where they should.
