Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Hi everyone!
I live in NW PA near Erie. Neither I nor my SO has ever raised/owned chickens. We are currently in the process of designing the coop we will build (hopefully soon). I have some questions and will try not to drive everyone nuts with my pestering.

Is anyone available to chicken sit for us? We are considering getting 4 juvenilles when the coop is completed. We have a 5 day out of state vacation scheduled August 29th- September 2nd. We are trying to decide whether to wait to get the chickens after we return or get them "now" and utilize a sitter.

Additionally, does anyone have a suggestion/recommendation for a breeder or hatchery we should get them from? We live roughly 2 hours from Cleveland/Buffalo/Pittsburgh as a point of reference. I am willing to drive up to about 2 hours one way or mail order if needed/suggested.

TYIA!!!

Welcome from Cambria county! I'm too far from you to chicken sit but maybe someone is near you. As far as a good place to look for some pullets, I would suggest Craigslist or pennswoods.net :)

I'm near Erie. If you let me know your location and we're close enough, I'd be willing to chicken-sit for you. I have 15 chickens, and just got them a new coop. If you have any questions, let me know!
