I hope to get some Dumpies from Sand Hill this year. I got 3 last year in a chick mix and they were nice birds but the sole pullet died early. They have a great reputation over in Scotland.

I would love a Dumpy. So cool.

You know it’s hot when you can’t get a Muscovy out of the water regardless of what you do!
I wasn’t trying, but I’m not even used to her being in the water, and she’s just laying there. We walked by, she stayed. The drake mated her, she stayed (she is not typically into his advances). I added cold water, and she went crazy with delight.

I feel sorry for ANY broody in this heat, but for a duck it has to be miserable!

Went down the barn 20 min ago and found these cuties.

So I candled the duck eggs I had in the incubator. I think they stopped growing . I was hoping for babies from the male I lost. I have no idea where my ducks are laying. So I have not had duck eggs for 3 weeks now.

Just give them the sniff test every few days. An exploding duck egg will put you off using an incubator for quite a while . . .

I WAS going to butcher a rooster but mother nature has set me back. I had everything all set up around the kitchen sink and the water heated up. I get ready to walk outside and the downpour starts :/ I'm sure Mr roo won't mind waiting a little longer.... But I'm ready to get it done and over with.
