My two year old pokie hen Sunny, started to lay shell less and soft shell eggs a couple weeks ago. Then she acted sick.So I took her in and started antibiotics and also gave her extra calcium. She looks much better while still laying shell less eggs. Now she is broody. I don’t know what to do. If I let her being broody, she can have a rest from egg laying but not eating and drinking enough. Especially she hasn’t finished her antibiotics treatment yet. Should I just let her go, and hand feed her antibiotics and food?

I had a cross beak EE. She ate enough to be able to lay eggs, but I let her be broody and hand fed her because I felt it gave her body the chance to stabilize her calcium levels. She’s the only broody that was heavier after her chicks hatched.
Ok, thanks. I’ll try. She used to lose lots of weight when going broody. That’s why I always break her.

If her general condition has improved with the antibiotics so far then I am also in agreement with allowing her to be broody. It will allow her reproductive tract to take a break while the broody hormones are happening.
Feed her good protein meals and let her enjoy some good broody spoiling. Perfect timing for spring chicks also.

@fisherlady Such pretty dogs and chickens! At some point I might need a dog transported from Indiana to me (in Delco, near Philly.) I'll keep you in mind. My next dog is going to be a Pumi.
I will let you all know when I get on the road for trips. Basically will go anywhere in the 48 states.
Puli look like cool dogs! Definitely look like a good farm dog choice.

Hello! I live is Pittsburgh Pa. I have 3 Roos that I need to give away as I can not have them in my area. I hatched them and don’t want to slaughter them so I thought someone near us might be looking for Roos. There around 5 months old, in the picture below is one of them. His other brother has a similar coloration. The 3rd one has a beautiful black coloring.

That's a tough position to be in, not many people looking for roosters as pets. If you list them for sale, someone might eat them.
Most of the people here are not near you, and if they are, they probably have all the roosters they need.
