Ok ya'll, I need incubation advice. My house is laid out extremely weird! In the main house on the first floor I have my kitchen, living room, and master bedroom. Upstairs are the 2 bedrooms for the kids (who aren't living here, but are here every weekday before and after school) In the back part of the house is my dining room, computer room and spare bedroom. We close this part of the house off with sliding glass doors as it's usually 5-10 degrees cooler in there. (With the kids out of the house, I've actually caved and Fiancee and I generally eat dinner in the living room *shudders*) We also have a ground level basement. As in, you can walk outside from the back of it. This is where my brooder is.
So here is my question: WHERE do I put my incubator? I was thinking on the kitchen table (not used for eating, I have my "small" appliances on it and move them as needed to use. There is a grow light over this table that I can turn off and on. The 2nd option is I have a window height dresser in my dining room that I have dead plants on. I could put it there, I would just have to go around the dining room tables (yes I have 2.....long story). Third option is the computer room. It has a window and a skylight.

Like Chad said, No drafts, No direct sunlight. Oh, and you can send that extra dining room table right on over. Yes, year 4 right around the corner and No dining room table : (

DEAD on the ROOST!! I didnt even check for sure if its Sketch or Stencil, but it was one of my big beautiful Dark Brahma hens and all my chickens are April/Mays, so young! Lil Lucas climbed in and put her in the dish pan dust bath bucket that I dumped out. looks like she fell asleep and never woke up!!! I am p/od and upset, she has been a fine girl!! As much as I would love to check her out, she is frozen solid and I dont have the heart to even look in her throat for petes sakes! Now what??? uggggg

Sally!! Oh, SOOO sorry. I would definitely take her for a necropsy. They cost around $35, then you'll know for sure what you're dealing with.

Baym, I pass Highland Orchards regularly, right on Marshalton Thorndale Rd? Or just off of it? When I'm heading to Downingtown, never been in there though.

That's it Blarney. I am there regularly. It is a great place. I figured you were further from me than you are. I can be at the Chester County Intermediate Unit (right off Boot Road) in about 20 minutes. Highland is about another 10.

Blarney...it's not an extra....With 8 of us in the house, the original table was only big enough for maybe 6.....So we got another table...and while it has enough leaves to expand to fit 8-10...the smaller table is Fiancee's from his late wife.....and so as much as I'd like to put it in the basement for more room....it's not going anywhere...

I have accepted the fact that I will go no longer then a couple of weeks with the incubator off. Hello, my name is Heather, and I love chickens, and cannot stop making more peeps in my incubator. This chicken math is only with my layer flock!!! I am lethal at culling the Ameraucanas!!! I think ohhhhhhhhhh those are so pretty, I like speckles (Mottled Java), I love the beetle green sheen on those birdies (Black Australorp), and what a nice big egg layer and table bird with lavender/white feathers (Coronation Sussex). I will sell extras too! If I have them. I am not keeping any roosters of these breeds! I just don't like getting hatchery birdies. They are not a good representative of the breed, have health problems, and personality issues more often.
That sounds like a fun mix!!

My eggs are going in this morning and then I am switching it off until Easter.

No, really......
