Hi JCF!!!
don't want people to think i'm a know it all, cause i'm far from it, but i have had chickens all my life, well since i was around two years old, momma and daddy would buy rir chicks every year, eat the roos as soon as they were big enough to tell, i mean little fellas, the hens got to stay for about a year, when they started slowing up on the eggs we would have chicken and dumpling, chicken and rice, so i do know just a little lolnever be afraid to say anything on this thread, we take criticism rather well.
of course, that goes without sayingEXCEPT when picking on Chad and Sally![]()
We had to put ours up on blocks also... with the snow and cold they are spending more time inside and apparently with our groups the game 'tag' must be popular or something... that or they are doing gymnastics to combat boredom... either way they were spilling more than they were drinking! So blocks were set and now no problems.Quote:
I ended up putting my water on cement blocks at neck height so they wouldnt slop it and in the summer I always keep it outside. I havent had any more issues at least till I typed this!!!
Oh my first egg!!! Omg!!! Omg!! It's so little! But it's my first egg! Makes up for having 5 roosters!!!
I can't imagine what it will be like trying to catch up after camping weekends this summer! I'll need to figure out an internet connection while at camp just to avoid 3 hrs of reading when we get home!Just trying to keep up with everything going on here. Seems like everytine I log on there are 10 to 15 more pages to catch up on!
Try SgtMom, she's down in Dover and has beautiful FCBM's.Hey everyone! I'm looking for a French Black Copper Marans rooster in the area. The ones I picked up are just not up to the standard and I need to at least replace the rooster. I'm looking for one that is 4-6 months old. I could also take a trio or pair if someone is needing to sell off some of their flock. I'm willing to travel about 1 1/2 hours to pick them up, but if there is someone further (say 3hrs) and would be willing to meet halfway, I do that too.
That is awesome!!! So glad you got them all together!Okay! Everyone is in the coop and confined! There pecking order going on, but no one is attacking each other! *phew Please send positivity that it goes well! I figured since there is no run, that doing it this way is best since the polish and brahma outnumber Sandy. I'll leave them in there overnight and tomorrow they will have to free range a bit until I can get this run made. (They will free range with dog and human security. (Part of the reason I wanted the coop out my office window.
I figured a nice warm winter day was good for them to all get along. LOL!
Beaglady, didn't see you at the FS today, but wanted to ask, do you have any Chocolate Scovys? I love the colors I have from you...but want Chocolate now. And that one duck is still TINY in comparison to the others! LOLMine are pretty talkative. Sometimes they just hang out, but if they're hungry, or a guinea runs close by, or some other unusual thing, they need to comment. My poultry are a couple hundred yards from the house, and I can hear them at the house if the windows are open.
LOL I love when Sesame Street sponsors a bad day. Sorry they're all rules, you must have the same luck in picking chicks as I do!I am not sure if it is just this day or what.. but sorry I need to Vent.. WTH.. I get these freaking chickens, Told they are all Female, I post to BYC What breed and Gender and am told they are all Boys... Teach me to get m chickens from a woman that is going blind and cant tell what the heck her chickens are anymore.. Feeding stupid Roosters I can't even keep that are freaking beautiful... Prolly going to have to cull them... couldn't even kill a stupid raccoon, so not sure how culling them will work out for me, to protect my chickens that aren't even laying I'm sure they are roosters too somehow..Thank you this message has been brought to you today by the letter F...

I just got my first coop for Christmas and I am looking to start a flock. My dad is a strict RIR fan, but I would like to diversify, do you know of any great breeders? I would like to get some pols, although I would luv chicks, I'm not sure if I am experienced enough yet. I have to wait until march because I need to make a pen. What kind of chickens do you ave and what is your set up? You can add me on Facebook too if you want http://www.facebook.com/LindaWoerner?ref=tn_tnmn
