Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Crazy Ray's Brown Eggs here outside of Pittsburgh,PA in Robinson Township. Count Down to March 4th when my 29 chicks Arrive. Still working on finishing and moving my chicken coop out in the valley away from my neighbors. I'll have Golden Laced Wyandottes, Barred Plymouth Rocks and Rhode Island Reds. With one Roo of each breed. Equipment is already arriving in the mail. I am so excited!
Welcome!! North Indiana county here, but would be closer to Punxsy in reality... nice group of birds there!
Good morning all! Had to share for a minute. Looked out my back window and saw a really weird chicken milling around, did a double take, and realized a ring necked pheasant has joined the flock. He's eating, and even resting with them. They look at him every now and then like "who the heck are you"? I can't get a pic, thery're just too far away, but if they get closer, I'm gonna try. So Cool!!
That is so cool... hopefully he'll hand around the area and come back to visit so you can snap some pics!

well a few ventured out but went back in really quickly...doing an egg check now...we don't seem to get as many eggs on days like this...my roosters pretty much crow through out the night no matter what the weather but last night it was constant...i have a feeling they were yelling for me to come get them...help we're scared! it's cold out here! she took my spot on the roost! lol...crazy chickens
Yep, they don't care for the wind! I think they are like many other animals I have spent time around, they rely on their sense of hearing as a major part of their self defense mechanism.... wind noise interferes with that and it makes them nervous. Our roosters crow at strange noises, so the wind causes a lot of strange noises outside of the coop... and they spend their time crowing about it!

Well... I have committed to the Humane Sociaty in Washington Co. to do pet painting for there fund raiser around Easter time, here are examples of my paintings, if anyone is interested in purchasing one of there pets to be painted, There $45 for a single 8x10 with frame + 6.00 shipping, Or $85 for double 11x14 (no frame) 6.00 shipping. Or $120 for a triple painting on 11x14 (no frame) + 6.00 shipping I would need a clear photo to see all details of your pets faces....PET= anything you take care of...

Very cool that you are doing this for the Humane Society... such a great way to give back!

This is Brown Bear. He is a 5-y-o German Shepherd/Collie Mix. Raised with children and other animals his owners moved, and didn't bring him with them. I am thinking of adopting him this coming week.
I have been lucky with my last few dogs. They stay in the yard. How will I know Bear is ready to be off leash in the yard? Ironic that I am not worried about introducing the chickens. His breeds and a general understanding of dogs eases my mind on that front. I am interested in tips on training him to not cross the property line. I only have an acre. Cars are a (small) concern too.

I can definitely see why you call him "Brown Bear". I don't see the german shepherd in him at all (Edit: I hope that doesn't sound wrong. I meant he is a fuller rounder face than the typical long nose shepherd). He is beautiful. I trained my dog with a field collar. I put up a few flags and as he got close to them, I gave him a beep and if he kept going he would get a small shock (it is very small, like vibration small - not tazer small). He is a smart dog, he had it down in 5 minutes. Now if only my children were as smart ....

He is very handsome. I don't have any tips for off leash training. My dogs always have a car chasing problem and never trusted to off leash training. Good luck with him :)
