Well, I didn't think I could ever kill anything, but after this morning..... Took my 3 yr. old DD with me to feed and collect eggs. The pen with my evil roo, I always feed and water in the run BEFORE opening the coop to run door. Went to change water, turn around DD is in the run, and had opened the door, chickens running down the ramp, I'm running for DD screaming "GET OUT!!!" got to her just in time to drag her out by the coat collar, as P.O.S. roo took a flying leap at her. He got me instead. He's going to a new home on Sunday, but let me tell you, I'm ready to kill him with my bare hands and eat him just for spite.

Yes sorry Patrick.. should post that stuff here.. I tried to keep it chicken only.. Maybe i need one of those drinks you guys keep talking about?
No worries...I completely understand! I really do...I will have to share with you my story some time. My mind told me one thing and heart said another till she tried to kill me(literally). It took that for me to say enough is enough.
yes my other half is worried about using having roos. he doesnt want them so if that happens i am sure we will be trying to find them a new safe happy home.
There are several of us on here that offer up rooster drop offs with the condition that there are no questions asked when they become dinner.
OMG with out hesitation I would have killed it!!
I offed a dog that was killing my chickens, hawk would be no different, maybe less hesitation even

as long as i dont know about it i am okay with it. i just dont have the heart to put it on my own plate for dinner. As long as i can believe they are running somewhere free i am fine with it... haha

I've had rats, hamsters, rabbits, mice and gerbils, but our first gp experience was like two weeks ago. We lost one and we're still not entirely sure how. Woke up and it was dead, after having it for less than 24 hours. Hopefully your losses are done!
Thanks Betta and everyone. I just finished burying her

everyone else looks good, is laying (11 eggs so far today - 17 hens left) they're all yelling to get out to free range but I'm keeping them in today. They have enclosed runs all tarped up to protect them from the weather. We love our guinea pigs, they've been a lot of fun - especially if you raise a litter.... (It's really not just chicken math.... More like animal math!) we only had one litter and then I had my males neutered so they could be kept together. I pray that my losses are done - I'm getting too acquainted with that shovel....
