Does anyone here breed Ameraucanas? My friend is looking for a Blue roo. She has a very nice SQ black hen and a splash hen, and unfortunately got stuck with an F2 Lavender Wheaten project roo. He's gorgeous but he's not useful for breeding. She's willing to buy or trade for a replacement rooster. The lav project roo is very very pretty and would work well for someone who's wanting to makes some gorgeous Lav EEs or continue the project!
Thanks, Susan

I do breed Ameraucanas, I only have a grown splash rooster for sale right now. I have an old man blue rooster, I said he would always die here on the farm. If she is willing to give him a good home, I might consider it. This poor guy has had a rough winter, he needs to molt, and I just got him through bumble foot. With that being said he make beautiful babies. He is 6 yrs old this year. He is from Paul Smith in Texas. He was shipped to PA as a day old chick.

I am working on true LF Araucana line.. Just hatched some black chicks couple weeks ago 2 are tufted, 4 clean faced. Hopefully getting a pair shipped in later this spring. I'm having hard time finding any around besides the common (Araucana/Americana/EE) mixed breeds. Anyone know of anyone in the area?...haven't seen any at the farm shows....but that doesn't mean they aren't around.. I'm just curious

Think I have to have a discussion with my girls in the coop tonight.

I'm Italian, and every year we make Easter Pies......egg, cheese, sausage, ham in a crust.........and I had to RUN OUT TO THE STORE and BUY EGGS. Thinkin my girls are just old enough that they don't really care anymore that THEY are supposed to be handlin that part!!!
Are you serious!?!?!?!? MY GF lives in Lebanon and I am there most of the time. I work at GSH. If you need eggs I have chicken eggs out the wazoo, heck I even have quail eggs. And for a piece of that I would drop the eggs off. My ex wife would make that too(**** Italian temper). Would go to the Italian market in Reading and get the fresh Mozz, and all the really good deli meats as well as the fresh riccotta. That and the Spaghetti pie.
Oh I wish I had thought to ask if anyone wanted to sell eggs, but I would LOVE to buy some for myself for breakfast til mine are old enough to lay.......and my Dad will love some.....so let me know if you have some, and I'll def come and get them!!! And I am making Sweet Bread......it's a family recipe going back a LOOONG way that we only make on Christmas and Easter by Tradition. Have some to share!!! And my recipe for my pies goes back too. In order to make it EXACTLY the way my Nana did, I go home to NJ to buy the sausage from the SAME company she did. And I use the same exact recipe!! I've been baking since 7:30.......ready to FALL OVER!!!
I love to "fall over" and catch the Easter pie.

The way to find me is follow the chickens eating the bread crumbs.

Yep! Camping out back in playset! Mans night!!!

**** it's cold!!!!
Yeah it was warmer lol.
I believe I said in an earlier post that our Good Friday was a very good Friday!

Well after 10+ yrs we made it official.... Radioman is now my DH instead of my SO... (the 'fiance' stage was only a few weeks, so kinda skipped that step! LOL)

Very Awesome!!!! Congrats!!!

Well, she doesn't quite stick to the nest like I imagine she should, we put a fake egg in there for her so I'll be watching! Mr green jeans and I had to have a little chat this evening.... I tried to pick him up and he was less than thrilled, needless to say I won. I don't want him to think he doesn't have to listen to me... Lol he really is a sweetheart with the girls. So far, so good! He's a nice addition to our family. He and the dog had a little songfest day 1 - he'd crow, she'd start barking, causing him to crow, etc. I missed it as I was at work but my friend who was staying with us told me all about it! Lol I haven't seen him in the nest boxes, but I've quite enjoyed his performances out free ranging with the girls! It's been fun.
Fingers crossed on her going broody!!

If Mr Green Jeans gives you any tude just pick him up and carry him around for a while.... once he knows his limitations he should cool his jets a bit. Probably wouldn't hurt to let the kids do the same once you have him caught, so he knows they are also above him in the pecking order!! The only time I can think of him causing trouble would be if you were trying to pick up a hen and there was a lot of squawking going on... that would probably cause him to at least posture, but even then he should back down from you. Another thing for you to do to reinforce your position is that when he is out in the yard just slowly walk to him and make him give way to you, do this a few times just to remind him that you are bigger and the one really in charge. I never 'chased' him in the process of doing this, but did make him give way 3 or 4 times before I walked away. I figured since I saw Grayson do it to him once in a while then it wouldn't hurt for me to do it to!! LOL
He is a joy to watch with the hens, he certainly thinks he's hot stuff and the bestest provider ever!! LOL

Thank you for the congrats... we were very happy to make everything official after waiting for so long!!

It may be cold but that looks like an awesome 'adventure' to have with the kids! They will be saying 'remember when we camped out in the playhouse for Easter??!!??' for years!! What a wonderful memory to create!
But I do feel for you with the cold! Hope you had lots of soft sleeping bags!!! BBrrr!

She'd probably prefer a young, springy rooster to keep up with her flock (He'd be in with the two hens and a few other miss matched pullets and hens). How old is the Splash? I believe both her hens are Smith/Blehm crosses but I can't be sure. There might be some local stock blood in there too, likely clionsky or however you spell his name  Do you have pictures of the Splash?

Still waiting for those other pictures of the strapping young blues from Missy

Congratulations!!!! Very exciting!

Awwwweee!
