Question about quarentine - If i get this hen, and have a fav hen coming from beaglady next weekend. Should i quarentine them together? All my birds are still young (4-7 weeks old) and i don't want them to get sick because of my stupidity. What are the general guidlines for quarentineing birds?
7-14 days is good to keep them apart. 21 days is even better and than a gradual introduction

Richland...that's minutes from me
I might not be taking this one. Beaglady seems intent on sending me home with more birds than i planned on. lol She is a good enabler! She also has some partridge and a white one avaialable. I believe she said all from show lines. I told her to join us over here. She is new to chickens and is trying to get in to showing. Seems like a nice lady.

Anyone in the area want a single Blue Slate Turkey poult? It's a week old and in with my chicks. Only one hatched, figured if someone has space for it, it would be a nice thanksgiving meal. I'm getting Bourbon Red eggs this weekend, and even if I get 25% hatch, I'll have too many. Darn ebay!

Would a motorcycle ride be too stressful for a young poult?

Ok... So I am a question.... Mills... Anyone know of one close to Hazleton/ southern luzern county? I know everyone is posting of ones near lancaster and what not but thats too far for just feed. Please let me know!

That is a great question. IMO, I would put them in quarantine together (unless that one bird is super special). Quarantine is 4-6 weeks. That would be from the time you got Beaglady's birds.
Then there is the fact that I have five of her birds, and they are fine. That is no excuse though. I know that any others (and there WILL be others from her ... If I didn't make too big of a fool of myself

) will also have to separated.
So, I would quarantine them together.

I would quarantine for at least 30 days. I have never purchased any birds older than a few days old but even keep them away from my flock for about a month to make sure even they don't have anything. Rather have I cull one bird than my whole flock because of being in a rush.

She seems to be an EXCELENT enabler!!! I was just supossed to get one and am now getting 4, who know's what i will come home with! I have an extra large wire dog crate that i can keep in the barn, but i hate to keep them penned up for a month. :( should I try to build a little pen and run for them to stay in? I was conteplating doing this anyways so i would have a quarentine/broody/grow out area.
