I made some up last year for a party with gluten free flour as we have a friend with celiac...she was in heaven! My filling was a mix of cream and cheddar cheeses.YAY another fan of jalapeno poppers - i do mine with slivers of chicken breast inside not cream cheese - and sure thing, i'll be cooking up a feast!! lol
Depends. I have 1 roo that only hangs out with one hen, a bunch of hens who hang out together, and several roos who go from group to group.Question. I have 2 leghorn hens, 1 leghorn rooster and we just put the 10 white rock pullets out there 2 weeks ago. We moved the 2 silkie hens and 1 rooster into their own coop. They all free range together. The silkies stick together and the leghorns stick together. Will the white rocks eventually start sticking with the leghorns? I like how the rooster keeps the girls from trouble and I wish he would look over the white rocks too.
YUMMMM!
Not nearly enough! I just counted, I have 10 bottles of wine in the fridge...and feel like I'm running low. Going to Adams County Winery for the 150th celebration this weekend, so will likely pick up more, and have 4 cases on order for the wedding....ohhh...and we're going on a wine honeymoon.....Lmao, well I have about 4 bottles of local wine in the fridge & will be getting 2 cases of beer early next week & of course i'll have the poppers LOL
Darn, I forgot to do a kilt check!I left for a few hours to see my grandkids and had 13 pqges to read, plus one more that filled while I was reading. They sure were cute! Were they from a hatchery, or a private breeder? I might have a couple extra Narris if you still want soe. They were hatched in May though, so they're getting pretty big. Gotta wonder about Chad and all that kilt talk. Especially since the balut picture was really just an excuse for a close up of his thumbs. Ya know what they say about a guy's thumbs...![]()
Not dark beer, I hope. After that lactation discussion, I'm scared of the stuff. And a big WELCOME to anybody who's popped in since the last time I had time to post.
Why separate the roos?
Going to the Class 6 for a bottle of vodka to do drunken yellow cherries (did bing in bourbon last night) Then going and getting feed, and then grocery shopping. Going out to dinner with friends tonight.Morning all What does everyone have planned for today? Hopefully I can get out into the garden and plant some flowers I picked up cheap at the local nursery yesterday before the next round of rain comes! Have a good day!!
Yes, and they are ADORABLE!Did the baby goat's arrive? If so did she share pics yet? Been so busy getting ready for vacation I have missed a ton of posts. Hope everyone made out ok in the storms. We had one large dead tree come down. Thankfully it was nowhere near any buildings. Just across the lane we use to get to our field. Hubby had it cleared in no time. Well I'll check back in a little while. Hope everyone has a great day![]()
Ummm, yup! If the ornery little things can fly out of my 2 1/2 ft deep brooder at 2 weeks they can certainly make it onto a roost 1 1/2 ft off the floor.A few nights ago i merged several groups of chickens of various ages. Normal pecking order issues, some sleeping outside, etc. Nothing I didn't expect.
Included in this was a momma and her two two week olds. They weren't moved, just opened another run area between them and some others, and she is taking great care of them.
Late last night when I went to close coops, she was on the roost, 18in of the floor. I couldn't find the babies!
After searching, I found them, huddled with her on the roost! Amazed they got up there, but all was well.
Just thought I'd post this for those who sweat and worry about every little thing. They are very capable little creatures!
He's looking great! Shouldn't be too long for your eggs now, remember to grab a pic of them to provide us with an announcement.... I actually sent out a pic message to about 3 or 4 friends with a pic of our first egg! Felt like we laid it ourselves after all of the time we spent working on things for our birds!
Good morning! Today is coop cleaning and getting ready to head for Erie for the weekend at camp...Morning all![]()

Have a good day!!
Camp about 20 mins west of Erie... all are welcome, just phone ahead! LOLand what is your address. cuz that look AMAZING!!!!!![]()
You are very welcome, I really enjoyed the day and meeting all of you! Glad I was able to help and next time we will have to order a bit of drier weather! Though when I got home I found there had been 6" of rain in our area during the day, a few nearby towns made the news in Pittsburgh due to the extreme flooding, sure glad I live on a ridge top! The cobbler was great (Radioman passes along his thanks!) and I'll pass along the soaps to my Mom in the near future, she will love them!OK, finally caught up. Wheeeeewwwwww!!!
BIG THANK YOU to fisherlady!!! She drove 3 hours 1 way yesterday to bring her plucker equipment to help me process the last 9 meaties. Total time from set up to clean up (not counting me packaging after she left) was less than 4 1/2 hours & that was counting setting up & tearing down all equipment & unloading & reloading her car...in the rain. She didn't want any birds (darn) but took home feet & stripped carcasses to make stock with & I slipped her a big bowl of raspberry cobbler (for radioman) & a bunch of soaps for her, radioman & her mom.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! (Last time it took me over 12 hours to do 10 birds, & you figured out why with the amount of assistance offered by JJ...LOL)
The longer I have the chickens and the more broodies we get to see the less we worry... amazing how well they all do.A few nights ago i merged several groups of chickens of various ages. Normal pecking order issues, some sleeping outside, etc. Nothing I didn't expect.

Quote: Tell him he is very welcome. The kids finished off the rest of that cobbler for breakfast. Didn't last long here...LOL I had to threaten them (& JJ) to keep them out of it until I could get yours dipped out. They are supposed to pick more berries today, weather permitting, so I will be making more. Most of those berries were picked right out of our yard!![]()
