Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I'm a part disgusted and part excited. I have my first broody hen out back but didnt know how many eggs she was sitting on when I discovered her broodiness. I thought it was just coincidence she was laying each time I went to feed...until I finally caught on! Anyway, I must've taken an egg that I didn't realize was hers bc this morning I was cracking eggs for my breakfast and discovered a partially developed chickie in my mixing cup :( so I'm half disgusted but half excited bc that means the others she's sitting on are probably doin thier thing!!!!

If they watched there kids that would make sense, but one time they where watching my son, she didn't realize Ryan was not in her house, but over at her brothers, because she called me to tell me, um Ryan just got in his car with them (they have like 4 kids) and went to their grandmothers house!! WTH!! No adults noticed he was with them until they where basically at the grandparents house.

Also I doubt they where taking the eggs home.. (that is not how they roll)

Also.. she is no longer watching my son, and he does not play with those boys any further after the whole exposure incident..
i guess some parents just don't care whats going on as long as the kids don't bother them, i only had one, a boy and believe me, i knew where he was, he turned out real good, hes a cop in town now, so we did something right altho at the time, we were the meanest mother and father he had ever seen

See if that was me, I would have hooked up a fence charger to door handle some how. Let them get zapped good a few times and they will stay out!! :) Lol. I'm evil, I know!! :)
Sounds like a valid solution to me!

My parents were the "strict ones" funny...all my friends (and my brother's and sister's) wanted to hang out at our house. My mother is called Mom by more kids than she can count. I only have the grandkids...and believe me...they KNOW the rules. We went on a picnic (in the rain) and hike with them, each one came up to me at some point to walk/talk with me.

...too funny..coffee in the nose is painful!! Every time I talk to family the conversation always goes to chickens...then they ask, when are you getting the goat/cow/pig....funny to them, but...you know how awesome it would be !!!!!

...okay, trying to catch up now....you kids are so chatty!!!

Yeah I am aware of the genetics with the egg color. If I breed them back to a Pea combed blue egg layer it should eventually turn the eggs back to blue and the get the effects of the original mix out. But being they are Lavander Araucana',s they could never win best in show as it's not a acknowledged breed. While I need to breed the egg color back in there is also the death gene so I have to be careful only to breed a tufted to a clean face. And then there the length of tufts, rumpless, leg color, carrage...... I think my work will be endless,

The work is never over. There are some people in PA that breed them. http://www.hinkjcpoultry.com/largefowlaraucana.htm

It doesn't look like they have them available at the moment...but now I can see why you'd want them. They are BEAUTIFUL!
[I drive back and forth from NePA to southeastern PA if that would help at some point in the future]
Myself and another BYC member have been trying to get eggs and or chicks from them for ever...was starting to get a complex

....okay..do you have an idea as to when birds/eggs will be available?? Did they give you a date?, we were told they were checking fertility...
