Feeling kinda like chopped liver.... Does no one like my chickies???? Lol Anyways, i am thrilled to have them. Any ideas as to why we seem to have the most luck hatching in late summer?

The rain is coming down here too. Supposed to get some thunderstorms. Hope they are finished with before football practice tonight. I worry about my son `1being out there in lightning storms.

Love the chickens! We have one SS and she is really sweet. I love watching how she seems to be speckled with more and more snowflakes every day...she is shaping up to be our lowest ranking girl...I hope she will be ok when we try to integrate these 4 with our 3 one year olds in a few weeks. And chicken surgery??? You must be a kindred spirit, I once had surgery performed...on my pet...RAT!

In terms of weird eggs, anybody have a chicken that consistently lays a really weird shape? One of our Wyndottes lays an egg that is flattened lengthwise, and has humped bands of thicker shell around the middle, sometimes making obvious grooves around the middle like one or more belts. I guess she has strange constrictions in the section where calcification takes place. Any idea how common this is?
