What is going on with this weather!! I had all day Saturday to myself so I decided it would be the perfect time to build a grow out coop. Now it didn't turn out how envisioned it but it all worked out in the end. Started out with 4 pallets (I seem to have an issue hoarding them) a 4' door with hinges attached that someone was throwing out, a kitchen cabinet door with glass that also was someone else's trash (hinges also attached), a piece of glass from an old scanner and I only spent $10 on a box of screes and a latch. Put the little ones out by 6:30ish Saturday evening and did a little tweeking Sunday and today. Still need a permanent roof I just ran out if steam. I (DH lol) have corrugated metal roofing to use but its on the bottom of a pile of scrap at the moment.
Rather proud of myself but ooooh man am I sore!!

I may need another bator...LOL I have 2 bators on lockdown & a 3rd headed there in 2 days. Wait, that leaves 1 to set eggs in while the 1st bator hatches then get the rest reset by next week. Egg Tetris here I come!

I managed to keep from stacking so far this spring until tonight. Ran out of room to put the 18 ee bantam & polish mix eggs I wanted to set for Cinco de Mayo. Already had 11 turkey & 15 ancona in for it.

Someone brought me 9 roosters (5 silkies or silkie crosses) & 8 coturnix quail (5 hens, 3 roos). I got 4 eggs from the quail already. Roos have leg mites so will be treated or sent to freezer camp. 2 of the roos are really pretty blue barred with lightly feathered legs...so at least 1 will be joining my flock once they are p/t tested. All are quarantined in the garage right now. NPIP testing is due right around the time they will be able to come out of quarantine, so they will get checked before joining the flock. If anyone is interested in any of the silkies please let me know asap.

Hey Chippy:

Everybody's worn out....I went to CPT training today and met up MsLadyHawk and Blarney, and another woman who has show grade silkies in coatsville..(and CCLs)...one of my two week old chooks is getting a crested top...if a she, I'll have a crested OE....my dork mix appears to have one leg with 5 toes and one with 4 toes...(ain't genetics weird)....

For my two cents....get chuck a girl friend....any kind you can find...if Chuck is like my junior roo....he'll be a PIA to every bird in your backyard.....lol
 
Our first chicks (BO's) should be here in the morning and the hubby just said if I can find some ameraucana chick's this week I can get a few of those too! So excited!
