Question time people! My chickens all seem to be healthy and happy and starting to lay nicely. However it seems like a few of my girls have a little bit of poo stuck on their fluffy butt feathers. I'm concerned about vent Gleet. Is it possible that it's just a little diarhea sticking from when they drink a lot of water on hot days? Do your chickens all have sparkly clean butts?

No predator yet, wonder if me just being there is keeping them farther away, was there at 5 am on sat, and most of last night..

LMP, is he wanting to do just 1 or 2 at a time or does he pan to set up for going lots at a time...I have some young one's right now, hatched on the 14 the, these will go out in mid sept, we should be putting in one more batch after that.

Rose, congrats on the new adventure and as for the birds, give it some time, leave the hormones calm down before doing anything drastic, you might consider cutting back to just a few, keep things simple, you know you will not feel like doing much of anything for about 8 more months.

Where is the least expensive place to buy canning jars. Not going to try auctions or yard sales around here, I know better. Tsc seems to be the best price I've found, any other ideas?
(certain things need to be canned, not frozen, like cantaloupe and watermelon rind)

I got some last year at dollar general, they seem to be priced about the same in most local stores

It is our duty to embarrass the kids, no matter how old they are.
I have sat back and watched my kids do the same to their kids, and with a smile on their faces..( great times )

With having these rabbits, I would like to give it a try.
I remember watching my grandfather years ago, by he sold them and I only want them for my own use.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated, for this looks like hard work.

I would like to know too. We are thinking of getting rabbits next year and it seems like a waste to just toss the hides.

I've got goats, and I'm very close to Downingtown.

Things are really stirring up out there.... And I've got chickens to bathe for the Goshen Fair. I do NOT want to be chasing chickens around tomorrow morning, so it looks like I've got to go out in the lightening and thunder and grab me some chooks.

I know we have trappers in the family, but unfortunately that is something I have never done...I guess we are never to old to learn...
