Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Lol, those pictures reminded me of my adopted moluccan cockatoo. I brought him home in a heavy duty plastic dog carrier--and he ripped open those holes and squeezed his head out! He did make it all the way out--there I am, driving at night trying to shove this huge beaky upset psittacine back in his box!

Can anyone who ferments feed explain to me how come it isn't just going bad after a couple days ? Do you add yogurt or something to crowd out the bad bacteria? My guys LOVE it when I add water to their feed, but I haven't had the nerve to let it sit out for a few days yet...
There is no bad bacteria unless it sits wayyyyyy too long. Yogurt is fermented too. The same bacteria is at work. I’ve gone a week without stirring it. No problem. I wouldn’t recommend going that long of course.

I'm not positive how it works but I've never had an issue with the feed going bad. You only let it go 3 days to start, stirring it 2-3 times each day. From there, you take what you need from it in the morning and add back to the bucket what you took out. It forms a continuous ferment that the flock absolutely loves!

Everyone remember my little penciled poult last year, Sprinkles? I was so disappointed to lose him last year BUT the two that hatched this year are doing amazingly! They're fully integrated in to the flock now and I'm starting to think I have 1 boy and 1 girl. If so, they will be Phil and Lil lol.

How ADORABLE! My babies ignored their swings. I didn't know turkeys could be penciled!

Hey all! So it's crazy time officially. I'm getting ready for the York County Poultry Show! Thankfully I have @LeBlackbird to help lol. I've got 9 birds I'm going to be entering and now I just need to know if I have to request double coops for my waterfowl or if they have a regular sized waterfowl coop for the crew... it's confusing.

I'll keep you posted though! Gotta get my entries postmarked by the 12th though so I gotta hurry!!
