to everyone! I hope you all have a restfull weekend. The weather is going to be nice!! I know my chickens will love to be in the sunshine!!

Sally, how is Lucas this morning? Are you getting any rest at all? Thinking about you all and sending you healing thoughts!

Do you have roosts inside the coop? What breed are they?

I do have a roost in the coop. Not sure of all of the breeds. 2 are Brahams. I heard they were good winter birds, not sure how true that is. These are my first chickens.
I went out at about 4a.m. this morning and 3 birds were in there. I think last night was the coldest night yet. Then this morning when I went out again around 6:30 4 came out of the coop, so maybe they are figuring it out? I checked on them last night at mid night, it was windy cold and wet, and they were all bunched up on the roost out in the pen...
I was thinking if I heated the floor some how, they would like being in there.
Attached are some pics of the coop and run...I have a 2" x 4" across the run and a 2" x 3" in the top of the coop.

When my chickens were young, I found I often had to "put them to bed" They slowly learned that when it was dark, it was time to go into their coop.

Well, I think you should try to put a roost inside the coop. That is an instinct, they would rather sleep outside on the roost, then in the coop on the floor?????????????

I know, I know, it's late to be asking....but...did anyone raise turkeys this year and have them butchered for sale for Thanksgiving?
