People amaze me.. Update

Actually there is quite a bit of sociological research concerning the relationships between pets and humans. In particular, in the case of dogs - it is widely aknowledged that dogs (and many other animals) have an awareness of the "self". They have concluded this thru observation of behavioral patterns and interactions. Basically complex social interaction of the type between humans and their pets requires this understanding of the self and the "other" in order for it to work right. This is of course a simplification, but it is pretty interesting.

Don't believe everything you read on snopes.com. I am not saying those photos are or aren't doctored. But I have seen snopes make mistakes before, but I can't remember what it was, it was a couple of years ago. But I can believe that people would dye their cats (and other animals) like that.

Until you come up with some of those mistakes, I still go with them being pretty reliable.

And what's even MORE reliable (when it works...) is TinEye.com. I searched those pics and found them being discussed as photoshop projects, how to do them, etc. Feel free to check it out yourself.

Here's one of the links to a blog with a bunch of other "painted cats" pics. Enjoy.

To be honest, I can just look at the photos themselves to see they are 'shopped', but that comes with doing this kind of work.

If you look at the past work of Burton Silver, you will see a theme of parody

Yep, people do dye animals, all the more reason to not use doctored photos, in my opinion. People dye animals for many reasons including:

, Aquaeyes, you have gotten me addicted to Tineye. Didn't expect anything to pop up for those particular photos, but it's been extremely helpful for IDing various species. X)

My favorite thing is for tracing the random "pics with messages" that get posted on facebook. It's really interesting to find a pic with a message stamped on it that is contradicting the original context of the pic. Say, for example, someone takes a pic of an animal carcass and identifies it as a known species, then later it resurfaces with a message saying something like "Proof of Chubacabra" or something.

Sorry for the misspell i will be the first to admit that my spelling isn't great. If I didn't have a smart phone my spelling would be a lot worse. Idk why it's so bad but it's never been great.

Anyway, Uh like I said tattooing for needed purposes is totally different than tattooing for your own satisfaction. Like i had said before. I understand that tattooing is needed for identification purposes.

As for dyeing animals fur or feathers, I think it's absolutely ridicules. I have seen those colorful chicks and I think the natural colored chicks are much cuter. I don't like seeing animals in pinks or blues or greens. I don't like seeing animals in unnatural colors. It's just not right to me. I also don't like seeing animals is clothes. It's not cute to me. I can understand if the animal is small and it's freezing, but not for fashion statements. It's not cute. It's unnatural. If they were supposed to have clothes they would not have come with fur or feathers.

I am neither agreeing with your opinion nor arguing against it, but I am an old lady and have some words of advice for ya: if you wish to Become a vet tech, you will encounter pet owners. Some of them may treat their pets differently than would you or I, but they are the customers. There cannot be any personal bias on your part or you won't be able to keep the job for long. Just treat the pink poodle, purple rat, half shaved cat or tattooed bulldog for the condition which moved the owner(s) to come see a vet and ignore the non-life-threatening things they've done to 'em.
