The 2 that are left dont look good either

Poor things. But at least here they can die in peace, not by being stepped on.

I can appreciate your passion, but honestly? Chick sales at stores like Big Box feed stores are on the edge. Talk of animal protection would simply mean the end of Chick Days at stores like this. Cannot have it both ways. Can't have chicks available at retail stores everywhere, which is popular with people, and have complete prevention of silly behavior by over worked, under trained, and under paid workers.

I suspect we shall soon see a drive up/walk up counter at which folks can order the chicks, sight unseen, like a Big Mac. There boxed order will be brought out to them. They'll never again see chicks in bins. It'll all be done behind closed doors, the way the hatcheries sell their chicks, either by drive up, walk up or by mail. We may be at the end of an era.

That is sickening. Makes me feel much better that our local feed store separates any sick chicks two at a time into their own brooders. Aside from them being a jerk, that is animal cruelty.

Im not sure how Chick days works in the States...
I work at a TSC store in Canada and we have chick days but people have to order their chicks in advance and pay for them when they are ordered. We supply them with a care package they can read before their chicks arrive and recommend the feed and accesories that should go with day old chicks. We have a delivery date and make sure someone will be able to pick them up when they arrive. We have never had a problem with them not getting picked up..... although i have a brooder set up just in case

How does the store keep chicks over night ?

Actually I suspect this is unlikely.

Was it a TSC? You didn't actually say.

If the chicks are truly sick it will most certainly kill the turkeys, turkeys are much more susceptible to diseases especially as poults.
