people with house chickens

Has anyone ever heard of chicken boots or shoes? In thinking about trying to make some for when it gets snowy.

The only kind of boots I have ever seen was baby socks. But that was for a house rooster who injured his feet really bad. The socks helped keep him balanced. Im not quite sure what you could use as winter boots... :/

I have been trying to make them myself by cutting them out of cloth and sewing them together to make a shoe. I was thinking about even sewing plastic to the bottom so water doesn't seep through. It's been kinda hard and I've tried it a lot of different ways that haven't worked but I think I have a good idea on how to do it now. :)

It depends on the chicken really. My girl loves being in the house. But she got very sick when she was 10 weeks old and spent most of 3 months in the house. The diapers are made of fabric with a waterproof lining inside the poop pouch. The diapers have either Velcro or clips that come apart so you can put on and take off the diaper easily. The fabric stretches from the breast, under the belly, and down to the vent. Here's a picture to kind of explain it better.

My mom and I sat down with some pins and adjusted Sunni's diaper, then my mom used her sewing machine to shorten the belly part of the diaper and the elastic strips. Her diaper was WAY too big. Which I really don't understand. I measured her from her breast, under her belly, and to the vent, and she measured 12 inches. So I ordered a 12 inch diaper. I don't know why it is so big. Now that it is shorter and more snug, she is walking tons better. She still wants to high step and hook her toes, but not nearly as bad. My mom said that if this doesn't work she will deconstruct these diapers and use the elastic and clips and make some new ones. Im really disappointed. I was told that lovemychix's diapers were the best there is, and that her costumer service was great. Not with me. She was very short with her replies, and wasnt even willing to exchange these diapers for smaller ones. I won't be ordering from her again. I'll just have to learn how to make the diapers myself.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience.. I haven't heard of luvmychix, is there a link anywhere where I can see what she carries? Just out of curiosity.
Hopefully within a few tries you can get a proper fit! I had to do lots of adjustments to Maddie's Hen Holster (highly recommended diaper! She was just really small) but it's definitely worth the effort.

Yeah, I can post a link to her website for you. She has good reviews, but for whatever reason I just didn't get the greatest service. I love the diapers, they are just so BIG! Sunni loves them now that we made them smaller. After walking around for a few minutes, no more high steps. She has been cruising all over the house for the last 15 minutes. Now she doesn't have to stand on my lap all day. Not that I mind!
