people with house chickens

A friend came over last night. We stayed up way to late talking. My husband and I don't drink at all. But my best friend and neighbor does. She is pretty funny when she's been drinking. Anyhow, I slept way to long this morning. Gabby was on the bed so mad at us because we were'nt up. You would have thought she was a rooster. LOL Hubby let her outside since all the other girls were still locked up in the coop. I got up at 11am. Fed the girls and let them out. She ran (funniest thing to see) accross the yard, in the house, flew up on the buffet and planted herself in her food bowl. She wasent there more than a minute or so and popped out an egg. She totally must have been holding it. She could'nt even make it upstairs to my sons room. Thats where she lays now. It was pretty funny.

Enjoy the sun folks, I hear we're not going to see it again for a few days.

So I just look behind me and Gabby is laying on her side on the bed with my Hubby, the Chocolate Lab, and our mutt. She is just too cute. Someone tell me how to put pics on here.PLEASE. I feel I'm depriving you all of her cuteness. Its an injustice to humanity to not be able to see her.

Ok well maybe not that far

But I still need help. LOL

Thank you

i may let a chicken in the house when i get my own place order some diapers but how do you clean the diapers and is there enough room in there for an egg if i decide to keep a hen in the house?

Ha! Ha! It looks like a typical evening around here. Our chickens have gotten into the terrible habit of falling asleep on the back of the couch in the evening. Shirley is a big TV addict. She always sits directly in front of the screen. If anyone (human or pet) dares block her view, they get bit in the back of the head. No joke!

Miss temperamental Shirley just went after my grandparent's daschund on the patio. What a little stinker!!

That is pretty cool. Do you only have one? If so, were you always planning on keeping it inside?

Some people use diapers. Some people keep them closed up most of the day like in a bathroom or some other room. Some have an indoor coop. And some of us, like me, Let our girls have free run of the whole house.

My girl comes and goes outside as she pleases. Shes like having a dog. Think of it that way. There is another thread that someone here posted about that tells you you can potty train you chick, but you have to start about 3 weeks. I aquired my Gabby at 7 months. I just go behind her with a rag and a bottle of white vinagar. And I mop the floors everyday. I know how it sounds. But trust me my house is clean. They are so smart. They come when their called, they know the sound of the fridge door opening. Or my car coming home.

This is an experience that not many people have allowed themselves to have. Those of us that have are the lucky ones.

Take lots of pics they grow so fast

Oh and they will perch on whatever they want. Mine sleeps on the buffet in the dining room. Some one else mentioned theirs falling asleep on the back of the couch
