Yes, she is a white crested polish... bantam. I just adore her... she is my absolute favorite... but I do love all 4 of my babies. Problem is... I want more... more... more.

hnbubz, I checked out your videos. That is soo cool. Even the hubby came in to watch. So cute. Now to figure out what it is. Post some pics on this thread if you can too.

Well I didn't get the 9 chicks that I was supposed to today. Now they will be here tomorrow. I am so glad I had another day. I have spent all day trying to regulate the temp in the brooder. Plus the silkies smelled so bad from their long car ride from Wisconsin. 11 hours in the car. Pooing all over themselves. Eeewwww. So we gave them all a bath. and blow dry.

8 little drowned rats.

It spilled right after the pic was taken. She just walked away like she didn't do it. Too funny

She pecked at two of the chicks and they jumped in my lap and hid in my sweatshirt.

These are the new cochins we got last night too. They already laid 3 eggs.

my house chicken is on his way! his/her egg will be here tomorrow or thursday. i decided to name him/her Chuck!

i usually like different names...but i thought chuck was so simple it's almost funny....especially if chuck turns out to be a girl. i went to petsmart and bought a hygrometer AND a cage for chuck when he/she gets older.....it's a small parrot-like cage. even came with a couple roosts. of course chuck will probably only sleep in his/her cage.....but anyway.....i'll keep everyone updated on the egg progress. i have to go set up my bator now.

where is everyone?

My ducks are so cute. I got them and the chicks on wednesday, I swear they are so much bigger already. I tried to use a brooder light, but they were so hot. We keep the house at 73 and they seem great with that. When I let them out the follow me around, I love them. Gabby doesnt know what to make of them. Everytime she gets close to them, they run up on her then dart away. They are so fast. We named the ducks Betty and Wilma. I wish I could keep them inside FOREVER.

Gabby wanted outside today so I put her with the big girls. 20 min later I go to check on her and she was missing. I'm calling Gabby Gabby, when she comes walking up the driveway. Then came in the house when I opened the door. Went to the closet and laid an egg then went to the slider to go back outside. But she does NOT want to be with the chickens. You know what I noticed today? the caluses on the bottom of her feet are gone. Now they are soft and slightly pink. She has princess feet for goodness sake. when she comes in the house and shes muddy I think she actually knows and accepts that I am going to wash her feet. She'll wait in the dining room untill I pick her up.

I have 2 Porcelain D'uccles and a Bantam Light Brahma in an extra large dog crate in my room. They don't get to get out and play as often as I'd like because I don't trust my pack of predators. They're fine with the full sized birds but the littles might tempt them more than they can bear. I also have 2 BO pullets who are (temporarily) sleeping in a crate in the living room. I tried having them in my room when they come in at night and one of my D'uccles really stressed out. She was trying super hard to reach them. Not sure if she wanted to socialize or beat them up. lol
