Permits to own chickens?

Does anyone know if you can get a permit to own a few chickens if you live in an area where bylaws do not allow poultry?

I dont have an answer for you but check out the "Local chicken laws and ordinances and how to change them". Just click on the brown Forum tab at the top then Raising Backyard chickens then Local chicken laws and ordinances.

In some areas you can apply for a "variance" to have chickens even if the law says they are not allowed. We got a variance back in the 70's before we had enough land needed by the law. I'd post here to get more info: Local chicken laws & ordinances. Hope that helps!
